The New Mp3Car Meets Map Ready to Use - Give Us Your Feedback Here
Reno91011 has been working on an application for Mp3Car Meets here, so that organizing or finding a meet in your area is easier to do.
This is a fairly basic application that was created with the input of moderators as well as meet up organizers. We hope to use this as a starting point, and get feedback from all of you so that we can improve it and further develop it.
To read more about how the Mp3Car Meets Map works see the Wiki article here, or read the blog post Reno91011 has written on it at mp3car.com.
Please give us your comments and suggestions in this Thread and we will track it. Once we have received a good amount of feedback we will look at updating to a new version.
In the meantime, we hope that this application makes planning meet ups and finding meet ups in a certain area, easy to do.

Minor design quibbles: - Can we lose the stepped (90’s) borders on the tables for either cleaner (1px) borders or no borders at all?
- Can we get titles on the search boxes to so we know the difference without having to resort to the wiki? Something along the lines of “Search via Location” and “Search via Cursor.”
Create Meet Tools: - Addresses:
- There's no where to put a city in. I realize that for most places a zip code suffices, but not everywhere. It's also odd to see an address with a county and not a city.
- A field named "Venue" might be handy as well, as many meets seem to use a forest preserve or a business as a location.

Starting to think about the Mp3Car Meets Map 1.0
We wanted to launch a sort of prototype Meets Map, to gauge interest in using a map as well as what functionality is needed.
We have noticed that so far there are only a few meets on the map and a few people that have requested to be added as an organizer.
If anyone would like to be an organizer, please let me know via pm and I will give you permissions.
If you have feedback - like was this just a bad idea and not needed?
- do you all prefer the threads to organize meets instead?
Let us know.
We would like to develop a 1.0 version that everyone can use to make it easier to find an Mp3Car Meet and to organize a Meet.

While we're on the subject, I noticed the Texas meet has a "Place" in the popup. I couldn't figure out how to get to it for the St Louis meet. Our meets are in a prominent park, but there's no way for me to put the park name in my popup.

Here is some feedback from a meet administrator (that would be me today)
I just entered a meet because we are going to one on Sunday:
The County was required, zip, and country were required. I got an error each time I was missing one.
Then I got this message:
Incorrect Month input
Did you remember to hit 'Parse Data' before creating the meet?
My date format was 9-19-2008. It needed to be 09-19-2008. OUCH!
Then it made my meet.
I then wanted to fill in all the known attendees using this list already created.
The Forum thread link didn’t work from the admin screen so I copied and pasted it into the browser to get back to the “manual meet” that was created in the forums.
I now have this list of attending users: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/1254375-post414.html
However, now that I am in the admin screen I can’t copy and paste those names and comments into my new meet.
Don’t get me wrong. I think this is a great start, but before we can expect droves of people to use this we have to clear up some of these *pain* points. It will be interesting to see how many people take the time to update their status on this admin screen now that I have created this map.

If you are a meet organizer, edit your tab details section to add this code:
<tr><td>Place: <td> enter your place here
depending on where you put it will determine where it is on the tab (ie: before address and date or after... you get the picture)

After I entered the data I left the address blank because I didn't know the address and I was hoping to fill it in later. I put in the zip code as 01843 as well. I then hit parse data and it said I needed an address. So now I look up the address and put it in and it accepts it but puts me in the middle of the USA with no address and the 01843 zip code when I changed it to 01845 in both the address and zip code field. It won't let me update it.

I can change the Lat Lon so that I'm not in the middle of the USA, but I can't change the address details even though they are there.

just a small nitpick... it took my 3 refreshes to find the comments input on the attendance form. Shouldnt that be just before the save button?

I couldn't get the "Save comment" button to do anything. Tried adding myself as an attendee with a comment. Pressed the "Save comment" button and nothing happens. Tried it several times.

Hmm- we will look into the save button.
What does else does this map need to do, that it is not doing now?
Does it look ok - or is there a design aspect missing?
Really we want to make this thing better.
