I've only seen pimp-my-ride once (and that was enough ), but do they have a "tech" guy or at least the guy that does all the crazy screens or wirings? Or is that who the audio guy is? Just wondering...

I think Cabe did a lot of the tech stuff. He installed centrafuse on Rock the Boat. Mark miller will also be a great technical reasource. He has done tons of car comptuer installs as well.

Whos Cabe Spies? He's a speaker.........Oh, thats me. You mispelled my name
Yes I am the one that put in all the "crazy" screens and the audio systems. Did quite a few computers in the cars and on the boats but they never got any real airtime. It takes to much time to show all the things a computer can do so they usually just got cut out on the editing floor. Plus 90% of the general public wouldnt have a clue as to what we were talking about. Most people dont know how cool it is and convenient it is to have a computer setup in there vehicle.
Anyway if your wanting to know if I'm "techy" you could say that. I have been building cars for 18 years and if its DC voltage I have probably cut it up took it apart and put it where it wasnt supposed to go.

Cool.
You should get them to put that on the air! Maybe a geek minute or something where it is all tech stuff and not "look at this screen I put in the trunk so nobody can see along with the sub that will rattle the car apart...". I might watch clips of those.

Ya I hear that all the time but in there defense the age group or "demographic" for the show was 12 to 18 yrs. old. Thats why they had us all talk like someone was squeezing our nuts. It makes kids more at ease than listening to a bunch of deep voiced mechanics. Thats also why we never showed anything to technical, it was all visually impressive and made people talk which is why the show was popular. Even if you made fun of the show you were still talking about it. Publicity is publicity, good or bad.
P.S.-I only used the smiley cause I thought the bouncing boobs were cool. LOL

Ahh, that makes more sense to me now. I've always wondered why Xhibit was the host. He usually came off as a total idiot... but if it brings viewers, who cares right?

Makes sense now. Its on MTV right? Can't say I watch MTV or VH1 (any of the 10 of them MTV1/MTV2/MTV3/MTV4/MTV5/etc...). I see the commercials advertising some show on the channel and think, "who would ever watch this..." Then when it is in its third season I am utterly stumped. But 12 to 18 seems like the right crowd.
Maybe since the two crowds (techies and nontechies) rarely ever watch the same hows or channels, you guys could use the same footage already shot and put it on TechTV or Discovery as a half hour show with the tech behind what you've done. Maybe engine wise, sound deadening wise, or of course gadget wise. Extra revenue from just editing already shot footage right?
I wish the meet wasnt so far away, I want to go and see everything!

MTV isn't part of some huge conglomerate like Viacom?

I just did a total over haul of my system. I stripped everything including the old wiring and sound system, installed new fronts, rears, sub, mounted 2 amps, new pc, hd radio, sirius, double din monitor in the front and 2 monitors in the rear. That only took 40 hours. You got 2 weeks thats plenty of time to get a monitor done.

Yeah I wish I had that kind of time. I only have a couple more hours today, and then a few hours next weekend free to do this stuff. I'm still hoping to be able to wire up an amp to the factory harness if I can find one that will work, and install a new atom.
