I dont have a ton of extra time myself. I had to buck up and make the time or it would never get done. I just wanted something nice to bring to the meet.

If I can get my Bluetooth working semi-reliably before the meet, I'll be a happy camper. Unfortunately, the wife is taking the car out of town for the weekend (mine's the only car with GPS so, it's the "family car").
I'll be doing my darndest to work on it in the evenings this week. The clock is ticking!!

your truck may be nice, but my 2dr coupe is not my idea of vacation.
Anyways, if I go, it would take me 20-25 hours straight driving (no stops) to get there, so 1 night in a hotel before then after the meet drive up to Toronto (like 7-8 hours I think), probably stay there sunday and monday, then leave back monday afternoon for a good 25-28 hours drive...
It is actually cheaper for me to fly $250inc tax round trip 6 hour flight of relaxation, or $350 in gas with a grueling drive! Only an idiot like me would drive!

Same here on the flight. My truck is lowered 6 inches with 22" rims and a V-8 hog under the hood. Im looking at about $400 in gas........and I was kidding about sleeping in my truck.......I'm too old for that.

I wonder if there are enough people coming from far enough way that we could get some sort of "convention" rate at some hotel? Surely there must be volume discounts, especially in a crappy travel economy.

there are plenty of nice (but expensive) places to stay in the city. I wouldnt stay in a motel anywhere inside of baltimore county though. There are some nearby towns with nice hotels at affordable rates. Places like Towson, White Marsh, & Glen Burnie.. there all within 30 mins of the harbor. If anyone needs a free place to crash nearby my basements available and im about an hour away from the park.

Thanks for the good suggestions. I might take you up on that basement offer. I just realized my classes start back that Monday, so if I am going to Canada too, I need to do it before hand. Anyone want some awesome candy you cant buy in the states?! Cherry blasters (sour gummy sugary things), Aero Bars (chocolate with bubbles in it, makes it really good), Smarties (not the us smarties which are "rockets" everywhere else, but these are like M&Ms, but with higher grade chocolate and a thicker shell, tasting much better)?

Stupid question probably -- is everyone just going to power their cars off their batteries as we're walking around looking at them? Never been to a decent-sized meet before...or a car show for that matter in recent years. Looking forward to it though.

Well I am probably going to bring my heavy duty jumper thing, there should be outlets somewhere in the park right? I've never been to that park but around here at the picnic sites or bbq pits there is usually one or 2 GFI sockets. If there aren't any then I guess I wont bring anything but me!

Bring some jumper cables. Since we are outside, start your car every now and then if you are worried about your battery. This is a public park, so we won't be able to go crazy on the stereo systems all day, so battery usage will mainly be dictated by the power of your computer. Don't get me wrong, there will be time for an occasional sub demo, but it won't be an all day long SEMA bowel shaker type event. The park rangers would kick us out.

If you are driving in and on a budget, I could see how a suburban hotel might make sense. If you are flying in, it probably makes sense to not rent a car and use that extra cash for a nice hotel on the waterfront. There is a light rail that takes passengers from the airport to the downtown area and both events are basically within an athlete's walking distance, there are water taxis, and you could probably even get a ride with someone who is showing off your car to the next stop.

if they handle us the way they did at the last meet they will put us in a large grassy area away from the actual park where there's nothing but open area. There arent any outlets over there as far as i know and its probably 50 feet from the closest building.
