Technical Best in Show – chosen by anonymous technologist

This award will go to the car that has the most impressive use of technology, that has met the following qualifications:
Must bring your car to the event
Must have your car listed in the "show off your project section"

People’s Choice Award for first, second and third prize

These awards will go to the best cars in terms of technology, appearance and installation.
Attendees will be able to submit one ballot for their favorite car. Cars will be numbered and the ballot box will be centrally located.

Prizes have been donated by Centrafuse, Scantool, Mo-Co-So, Mp3car and Lilliput. Exact prizes for each winner will be announced later.

Contest rules and prizes will be announced here and are subject to change prior to the event start date of August 22nd.

Some prizes will be:

Centrafuse w/ upgrade production to 3.0
New Scantool products
One of kind Lilliput DVI monitor
mp3car p5usb
mp3car shirts
Circuitronics TPMS System
Mo-co-so Donated items:
• Directed HD radio
• GPS receiver (brand, model?)

Hello Everyone,

With the mp3car event only days away I want to go ahead and post the contest rules.

Your car must be entered into the mp3car contest for eligibility.

Portal Media will award a 4 sensor USB TPMS kit to the vehicle which has the most peripherals/devices connected a Car PC. For a perphieral/device to count it must follow the following conditions:

1. Must be connected to the Car PC via a communication port (USB, Serial, LPT, bluetooth, etc.) hubs are allowed but do not count.
2. Must be accessible/usable in driving conditions (ie with use of front end, touch screen application, voice recognition, etc)
3. Storage Devices do not count (USB Drive, External Hard Drives, etc.)
4. Duplicate Devices will only count once.

If there are any questionable devices Portal Media will decide eligibility.

Just to give you an idea here are some examples of the devices that fall within the requirements.

Fusion Brain
HD Radio (w/ MJS Cable)
3G Data Card

The winner will be voted on the forums along side the other prize packs.

I think there should be a category for best car in progress. While everyone likes to win free stuff, the people who are working on theirs probably need the stuff more than people who have theirs set up already. Plus those people have no chance of winning the others even with their hard work.

mp3Car does actually have a prize for this - it is called the mp3Car Innovation Grant and we have awarded 3 so far in the last few months. The goal is to drive innovation in the mp3Car forums by directly supporting innovators - including people who are just getting started, and are putting a lot of effort into their build and need a little help.

How the Grant works: Moderators and mp3Car staff recommend that a forum member receive a grant in the form of a product - physical or software, which will be used by the grant recipient to further their innovation. There are no strings attached, however we kindly ask that the forum member post in their worklog or some other location on the forums how they used their grant.

We will be soon posting about past winners - Chunkyks was the most recent with a Sheeva Plug. We offer this grant once per month and the moderators have a budget of $100 to award a lucky winner a product (not necessarily sold on the mp3Car Store).

Distinguish yourself among the mods and you just may win one.

Also, if there are any companies out there interested in donating to this grant, feel free to let me know.
