mp3Car CES Meet/Speaker Series - AFK Fest 2 - would you be interested?
kev000 just made an interesting suggestion - why not hold a west coast meet at CES along the lines of the AFK fest we did out here one month ago.
This is a short lead time, but i think i could try to swing a meet/space to hold a speaker series if we have both interest and interesting speakers. The meet would require space to show off cars and or products that forum members have created. The speaker series should cover the future of cutting edge mobile computing/car computing and some general nuts and bolts information that everyone would find interesting. In order for me to get a good space, it would be great to have some of our most skilled west coast forum members talk about the technology that they know best.
So is there 1) general interest? - this year hotel rooms are sure to be cheap! And will you be bringing your car or a product to show off?
2) Do we have speakers and topics? - suggestions, volunteers?

ok - great, are you bringing your car? Can anyone else that responds let me know if they are bringing their car? Should have asked that from the start.

I'm totally down for this as is my car. I will likely also bring a "Drivn" demo to show off and talk about as well as anything open source-ish: LinuxICE, Moblin, etc...

The faster you lock down a date, the more likely I'll be there

Ok - so my thought is that we set a date of January 9th and aim to start after lunch, so that people on the west coast can drive out.
CES is Jan 7th-10th.
So far 5 plus the mp3Car team which will be 3-4. When you add in people that will be at CES from the forum...we have something. If we have a lot going on, we could do something in the am, but i think 1-5 is all we need and an informal meet. Thoughts?
One offer to present by kev000, I am sure we can get more.
I will start to check on satellite venues close to the convention hall and $$. If anyone has ideas or contacts - please feel free to pm me.

Let me know as soon as it's final and definite and I'll make flight plans.

ok - but we need some speakers. Without speakers I cannot get sponsorship of this event, which would pay for the space to hold it.
FYI - the official CES in-vehicle technology talk is only on broadband in the car...I think we can do a bit better.
So - who has something cool related to in-vehicle technology to talk about, or knows someone attending CES that would have something cool to talk about? I am making a list.
kev000 can talk about Linux and other open source software in the car.

I'm interested...just not sure if the wife is interested in the money that would be spent on the trip!!
If I can swing a "kitchen pass", I'm very interested in going.
Heather; I would NOT be bringing my car.

I would love to go to one. I'll probably go to the one next year because I really do want to bring my car, but not unfinished like it is now. I am hoping to finish it by March of next year.
