Gainseville.
2000 S10 Xtreme.
I'll be doing a 7" Lilliput also. I have plenty of computers/parts to use, but I'm toying with building a P4 based system, since they're fast, and run pretty cool.
The carputer will be the easy part, the custom stereo install with 5 1/4" indash and center channel, and custom center console (subwoofer) will be much more time consuming.

I'm in the ATL as well (Dunwoody) and I think it would be great if there was a gathering. I have all my pieces and parts, but it's not in yet. Discoverd that my opus won't fit in my case, so have to wait for the new one to arrive.

Do you really go by "skippy"?
Do you look like Skippy Handleman from Family Ties?

Just in the process of moving to Alpharetta.

Meeting up would be cool. I have a few more steps to finish my truck but it is mostly done.

Hey trooper ... I don't have any money ... or a house (apartment life for me) but if you've got some cool stuff to offload I could maybe do some fiberglass/bondo work for you ... Check my site for pics of my setup.

yeah i'm all for a meet now ... enough of my pc is in that i won't feel embarassed.

i don't want to organize it ... i'm sick of organizing (i do with everything else in life)

I made it to atlanta in 3 hours from here once. I crossed the entire state of alabama in less than 2 hours, and I stopped twice and got lost once

maybe I'll have the heat issue and the voice activated door locks resolved by then

My gallery is on my personal site ... http://gallery.jackshakes.com/carputer

And here's my thread in the show off your project forum ... http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=24361

if anyone ever organizes a meet ... let's meet somewhere across the street from where a bunch of ricers have their meets so we can make fun of them

Good stuff man...what is that part called that you are using to holster the dremel. Hate to sound like an azz, but I've just started working with many tools I've never used before. My loss for sure because I love my dremel. My install is going to require much precision and this looks like the way to go for me as far as that holster goes. I was thiking of using foam or carboard instead of mdf just because I thought I had no tools to cut the wood with and because I thought that if I bought a saw it wouldn't be precise enough. Check my site and if you have any ideas on helping I'd love to hear them. I also had some ideas on what I was going to do and wouldn't mind running them by you.

Don't click any of the links unless you want to see pics of Janet Jackson nude. Just trying to make sure I don't offend anyone, but I put those in there so a friend of mine could see them.

the attachment i was using was the 'Plunge Router Attachment' ... about $20 or $30 i think.

It was ok ... and it will cut wood if you get some of the router bits for it. But it wasn't very accurate. With enough patience you could get it to be real accurate tho. Also one of my dremels burned up routing that wood so you need to go slow and take small cuts. it's a time consuming process.

I ended up getting a guy i work with who has a wood shop to cut the piece (it was 3/4" x 3/4" trim wood by the way, not mdf) ... he used either a routing table or a table saw ... not sure, but it was real accurate.

you could use foam (check out gork's M3 in the show off your proj forum) ... i wouldn't suggest cardboard ... and since you have that big kiosk pc i think mdf is probably the way to go for you. you could probably get by with a circular saw and a jig saw.

Sorry I missed all this GA chatter.... I'm in Marietta/East Cobb area. Keep me on the list when we meet up. I've got a Sequoia with constant mods. Working on power supply stuff.

I'm not an organizer and don't want to be, but I'll take the initiative to at least put a month out there and the city as well. I think the summer's a good time and no one responded so here goes. From this point everyone vote either July, August or other. If it's other provide which month. From there we can narrow it down. I think Atlanta is the mecca of GA and most of us will be in and around here so I also think this is a good spot. So for the location vote it'll be Atlanta or other and same rules apply, if other give option.

My votes are July and Atlanta.

Thanks for the advice shakes!
