TonyWare is infamous around these parts
Do all these Canadian sites ship directly from Canada or from the US?

Problem is that some just relay the order to some US retailer who ships it directly to you from the US and in the process you pay the GST two times (one at the online transaction and one at customs) plus you pay duties on top of the Canadian price that includes the duties.

To avoid this scenario that happened to me with these guys: (www.bytewizecomputers.com - to be avoided) ask the question before ordering that the shipment will come from Canada and not the US.

Besides if I want to be charged customs duties, I just buy from the US site that ships from the US in the first place !!!!

Been using tigerdirect.ca for 3 years , no duties or extra taxes . Ncix and directcanada are in British Colombia , all I pay is 6%gst when I order from them(I'm in Quebec). If you're in BC you need to pay another tax I think if you buy from them.

What I hate with directcanada is the way to browse items is not that good ( for example I wanted to buy a usb a /usb b cable , they have all cables in 1 category (cables) , so you need to go through all the items to find the one. And what I hate with NCIX is they don't always have item description so you need to google it.

I find it hard to see that GST would be paid twice. I believe that if the vender clearly states on the item description when packaging that the item is computer parts - I believe they are tax exempt. All computer parts across the border are supposed to be..... I think, but they have to be readily identifiable at the border as such. But like you said, asking direct questions before hand is always a good recommendation before the final purchase.

Vinster03XR is an unknown quantity at this point
Canuck here.... ^ As for the Tax.. I dunno... but I hate when you specify USPS Shipping and then they send it UPS.... a $75-$125 Brokerage COD charge blows goats when all you bought was a $60 part...
