Not a problem - hope you had a great break! I haven't really done anything productive - except pick up my new car today! So - I will be starting all over again with the installation.

Ladies and Gents.

Saw the thread title and couldnt resist - Aussies have gotta stick together! (getting little tired of the whole GMH vs Ford thing now....). MikGan, you know who I am anyways mate.

Currently in testing phase of the carputer setup in a 5.0L EF Falcon. All installed and working just having a god-awful time with an S-Video to composite 'issue'. Working thru a list of options, worse case scenario is a new vid card w/ TV out. Specs of the system are as per signature.

Got plenty of pics but they're all on the mobile. Will snap a few with the digicam and get them uploaded into the finished section.

ladies?? i'm not sure if there are female members here, never met any since '99... but i could be wrong, that would be interesting

anyway regarding your video-out issue, have you tried "Grand Hand View" from Grantec? i once found it on the net and glad that Jaycar decided to sell it for au$99 ($10 diff. over the net, but still ok). it is a vga to composite/svideo/vga converter powered by usb, works surprisingly well, and it is a good alternative for a carputer if you want to use your computer or video card's built-in vga. i made this decision since i use my carputer 5-8 hours a day, powered by a dc-dc psu with a tank battery so i need every single power (watt.) i can extract. this is also the reason why my setup has a very few components in it.

Count me in, im from Brisbane. I thnk a site for australian Mp3car fans would be a great idea, if someone was willing to make it happen.

I been a mp3car junkie for about 4 years now. Ran this system for the last 3 years:

MP3car || win95b || P90 || 32MB EDO || 512k ISA VGA || 4.3GB Quantum || SMC EtherEZ NIC || Soundblaster 16 ISA || Custom IR control || custom DC-DC power supply || Aux. Input hacked Pioneer DEH-P4050

Currently building a new system with ATX / liliput touchscren / mediaengine to be installed in the next few months

...there is already one, and if you browse back thru this thread you'll find the link.

there was once a debate wether to make a separate one for aussies, but most members would not leave this forum, even myself since the vast knowledge i have learned here is due to the fact that this forum has so many members. but it doesn't end there, aussie mp3car fans can still celabrate and be one, just make sure your avatar has Australia in it. mined you, even my carputer setup is covered and protected by australian flag. sort of like, "Proudly made in Australia"...

Dragging up an oldish thread here. Im from Adelaide and im looking into installing a rather simple, yet intergrated system into my 1997 Fairmont. Im looking to having it hooked up to my stereo (3way front active stage, 2xHCCA 12's, powered by Orion XTR amps.) and possably intergrated with TWEECER, for modifying the EEC5 system.

Just thaught id pop my head up here. I notice a few handels from other forums, naimly FF and FM's.

Sorry to pipe in guys... been a good year since I took a look here.

Had a scroll through each page of this post for it, but didn't see this. Don't know if it was mentioned at all so sorry if it was.

Years back there was an Australian forum set up... don't remember it ever taking off. Maybe I am wrong... anyhow someone here may remember it... think it was called the Australian portal.

Also, between Bris and Melb personally.

Long time listener, first time poster
As per my avatar - based in Adelaide, Australia.
Currently putting an overpowered PC into a soon to be underpowered car (Honda Integra). Once I get the GPS/MP3 stuff all working I plan to sell the car (sans computer) and buy a WRX then do a fully fabricated install - just so I can say "N#$#@ please! My **** is custom!"

Would love to eventually have the GPS software be able to read pace notes for rally-driving through the Adelaide hills etc
