When we showed up at the casino, we were there for about a half-hour when this casino security guy comes up to us on a bike and tells us that we need to leave since they had a complaint about a bunch of people gathered up in the parking garage. We tell him what we're doing, and that we'll be leaving in about an hour or so, we're not making any noise.. etc. He seems satisified with this, pedals off for a short bit, when he rolls up a short while later with his supervisor yelling at him over his radio. I heard the supervisor yell "you tell them to get out of there NOW, the cops have been called" on the radio, and the bike guard cooly tells us that we gotta go.
As John1701 and SickVette are discussing where to go from here, the supervisor rolls up on the scene in a red golf cart, and starts talking to the bike guard. I walked over to the guy and start to ask him why we can't be here, etc. when he cuts me off and snaps "you need to leave now. The cops are on their way." I looked up just then, and the cops were rolling up. John1701 and SickVette seemed to have agreed on another meeting location, so we jumped back in our cars, left the casino, and drove to a strip mall parking lot behind Sonic across the street from the University Mall.
We hung out there for about 45 minutes or so, until it started raining. Just before it started raining though, I noticed a silver Crown Vic with the police package parked in the Sonic parking lot, with the driver looking at us while talking on his radio. Seemed the cops wouldn't leave us alone. However, it started to rain, and we left without incident.
The next meeting place was the parking garage at USF. We finally were able to hang out for a while without being molested by the cops or mother nature. I left early after that, as I had to get back to work. Man, that supervisor guy was a dick. Had the cops not been there, I probably woulda got into a yelling match with the guy or something. I don't mind the fact that they didn't want us there, fine, we'll leave, But don't be an agressive ******* by cutting me off so I can't get a word in edgewise, and then threaten me with the cops. If he treats everyone like that, i'm sure someone will take exception with it, and clean his clock when the cops aren't there.
I guess we gotta research better gathering places. I think the campus cops will chase us off USF if we continue to use their parking garage.
Anyway, I'm glad I got to meet some of you and got to see some of your systems, and discuss them. Hope to do this again in a few months!
