so i have good news. i got the touchscreen to work. at first i thought the actual 4 cable wire going from the ts controller board to the ts itself came out, but i guess i just didn't install the drivers correctly.
saturday night, when i plugged everything in, i found an unknown usb device. so i assumed that was the TS, and when i reinstalled the drivers again, it didn't work. well, thats where i screwed up. instead of installing the drivers, i just installed the touchkit...and its been kind of bugging me (and dangerous) driving around for the past 2 days having to use a mouse and keyboard. so i finally had a moment after more unpacking and food shopping to sit back in the car and tinker some more. so i went into the device manager, found the unknown usb device, and updated the drivers. still nothing. so then i decided to install windvd...which wouldn't work because i don't have dirct x...and i don't have direct x on my carputer because my cd-key is the same one off my home pc...which was on the floor of my car (once again, that was NOT my carputer).
longer story short, i rebooted and plugged in anther usb hub in my trunk for the wifi and gps, and opened up iguidance, which of course couldn't find the gps, even with auto-detect, so i opened the device manager to see which port its on, and i noticed no yellow warning thingy anywhere, so i touched the screen and it worked! yay! but....now the gps is on com 17 and iguidance only goes up to 16?! any thoughts? i should have probably posted this in my worklog, but you guys say my system first hand...
oh and before i did all this today, i ran some errands, shutting off the puter a few times, and when i came out of hibernation, no gps device was found in iguidance (a few of us were *****ing about this yesterday), but 5-10 seconds after hitting ok, it started working again...without having to restart iguidance or set the com port (which is what i did previously)
