First, I couldn't find any "vision mobile" screens on google, stupid internet j/k, and would love to see a website for them, or an authorized dealer. I want a bright screen and am thinking about having a bezel that over hangs to block some of the sun but would rather not do that.
Second, I agree with the monthly get together and keeping this post very active. I don't know how you guys feel about non-gathering related stuff on this thread but I would take a locals word over someone half a nation away especially for $200+ components.
Last, I am about to purchase a screen and would like some input from people who know how they act in the cold/heat. I don't want to freeze a screen and have it shatter or not light up. I would like a touch screen so any input either PMs or in the thread would be great.

yes making the "sun visor hood" is the best protection from glare, and angle.. a passanger with a white or other bright color shirt will cause issues.. think of the screen as a mirror.. and when you are driving angle it so you see the darkest area possable.. (the head of the passenger or so).
My screen has issues with the cold, but I think it's cus I've hacked it to bits.. and had to reground it sever times, blah blah. but no pixel have broken or anything even being used in -30 F .. (I travel to hibbing often). the cold just reduces brightness and responsiveness, but that is true with any LCD.
I have a Tview 7" I dunno if they make them anymore.. the Lilliput seems to be the dope, and the newer onse have firmware hacks for auto-on .

Yeah, you won't find vision mobile on the internet as they are a fairly new company. And I have one of their first touchscreen demo screens. And this screen does auto-on automatically if you use the 12V input on the input dongle (I'd have to show it to ya) The video company sells all sorts of screens and it's a pretty good friend of mine that started it so... And I am kinda one of his unofficial distributers, so... I will post some more info on it on another thread possibly.

havent been in the 30 below cold with mine yet, but anytime it gets chilly they will get slow responses, after all, it is a liquid. i kind of stay on the cautious side and park in the garage, or you could aim a vent at the screen, if possible. mine has the option to be taken into the house, too. if you can do that, that would be your safest option.

yeah, I'm getting 2 m10000 epia boards with memory and m1-atx's and such.. one set for me.. the other for my wife.. she loves the GPS stuff.. and her vehicle is the family one too ('02 rondezvouez)
I'm planning on doing a complete center console overhaul .. in my explorer, basicly making everything from the radio console on down to the cup holders a single paice of fiberglass and bondo.. and I'll get to make the shapes just perfect. should be fun.. but long..

eddy, what is it with you and blowing PS's! lol seems like you are always frying them!
other than that, to buy a new one, no. I do not belive anyone locally sells them. best bet is to call up armen at digitalww.com, as he lives in chicago, and is super easy to deal with. very fast shipper, and the best prices I have seen.
