There's been a lot of talk about getting together, but nothing has ever come of it.... at least as far as I know, not that I'm dumping on anybody. Did those meets setup out in Whitby ever happen?
It seems that there are pockets of people in different areas in and around Toronto. A bunch in Barrie/Keswick, some in Toronto itself and it's boroughs, I and a few others are in Mississauga and there are more further down the QEW towards Hamilton (Burlington/Oakville).
Now that I finally have a CarPC installed and working, I'm keen to meet up with others and see what they've done, what front ends they're running and basically chat about stuff.
The biggest problem that I see with all this is picking a location. I had joked that Whitby was equally far for everyone when it was suggested, but no matter which site is chosen, there will be a few put off by the distance.
So perhaps a poll is in order (if I knew how to do that I would)?
A few suggestions come to mind at the moment and others can be easily added. Something with a large parking lot would be ideal... not that I would expect hundreds of people to show up when it does happen.
Mississauga Square One (403 & HWY-10)
Yorkdale (401 & Dufferin Rd)
Vaughn Mills (400 & Rutherford)
Scarborough Town Centre (401 & McCowan)
There's always those big box retail malls popping up like weeds. The above are just suggestions, but it's something to start with. I just want this to happen and have as many people show up as possible.
Another thing that needs to be decided is which night of the week (if this is to be a weekly/monthly thing) or just a specific date and we take it from there?
Is anyone else really interested in this? PM me or reply/start another thread with a poll and we'll get this thing rolling before the snow starts again.
