Hey guys, in looking for the next meet location, we're trying to do one of the regional/national parks. The problem is, 'sometimes', they charge a fee to enter the park. I know the Great Falls National Park says they charge $5 per vehicle to enter, but of the 4-5 times I've been recently, I've haven't been charged once. So, I've created a poll at our Yahoo Groups Page, asking that if we do the meet at a park like such, will you pay to enter "if need be" ?? Let your vote be known. We're also considering the parking garages at the Tyson's Corner Shopping Center, but as those of you who were at the September meet might remember, there is a chance we'll have issues with the RentaCops. Also, being such a shopping area, and on the weekend, we might have more issues with traffic there, whereas Great Falls would be perfect (we could even try to snatch the grills and have a cookout). Post your suggestions, Cast your vote and lets get ready for the next meet. So far the polls are still standing at Saturday, 21 October at 2pm. Hope to see you all there

@ Everyone. Ok, the polls have spoken, the next meet will be on Saturday, the 21st of October at 2pm.

What do you all think about the Tysons Corner Shopping Center? We can try the top deck at one of the parking garages there. If not it looks like we'll be doing Great Falls National Park (slight possiblility of an entrance fee, never happened before, but it could). Please let me know before week's end so we can get up maps, directions, time, etc. Thanks

I personally don't mind dealing with the fee as long as it's not exorbitant. I think it beats getting run out by rent-a-cops. The chance of a fee might discourage some though. However my opinion means little for the next meet since I won't be likely to attend. That weekend we'll be packing half my parents stuff up in order to move it to their new house in Arizona. We're leaving the 23rd and driving cross country. Cross country road trip sounds cool, but not so much when you have a time table to follow. Plus I'll be driving my dad's vette, which again sounds cool, but cross country is a long trip in any vehicle, much less a stiff car like that. That thing is also his baby, so I'll be paranoid about anything happing to it the whole way. I'll try to cut out for a few hours to attend, but it all depends on how far along we are. Hopefully someone will be sure to snap lots of pics for those that don't make it.

We'll def be trying to catch more pics from now on. Not sure what happened with the pics from the Sep meet. Great Falls says they charge a fee, but I've never had to pay any of the times I've gone, so I'm not sure what the deal with that is. It's supposed to be like $5 a vehicle I think, but like I said, I've never had to pay..
Sounds like a great weekend, moving, then driving in the vette.. and after moving, damn, you're gonna be stiff/sore for sure. Well if you can make it out for a few that'd be cool we usually only hang for 1.5-2 hours anyways. All depends on how many folk show up. If we do Great Falls, I might try to get out there early to grab a grill and some tables and see if we can't get a little cook out going on.

Oh yeah, i'm gonna be wore out. What's gonna be great is returning to work where in their minds I've been on vacation for a week and a half, so I should be well rested. It will actually be just the opposite. Sore, jet-lagged, and needing some R&R.

$5 doesn't sound bad, i'm fine with it, but we'll see what the others say. If I do make it, I'll bring my tripod and DSLR this time and make sure to get some pics. Had it in my hand and forgot it last time. Still learning the in's and out's of DSLR though so no promises on quality.

Any pics are better than no pics, but I'm sure you'll do fine. Yah, you gotta love how relaxing most vacations are NOT. Hell I go to work jus to relax and recoop. lol. Well from the polls over at the Yahoo Group, the majority have said up to $5 is ok, so we might just chance it and hope they're still not charging

The rentacops didn't really do anything last time other than pull up and ask what we were doing... he started on this spill something to the effect of we weren't allowed to have 'gatherings' because it's private property, but we told him we wouldn't be there for much longer and he pretty much left us alone after that, though he kept driving by at a distance. This was at the Landmark Mall in Alexandria. According to jadmeouchy, Tyson's is cool about these kind of things so long as folk aren't doing burnouts, etc. So it might actually be alright there. As far as Great Falls goes, I really don't have a problem paying the fee, and if we were able to grab up a grill and a picnic table or so, we could even have a cookout (if everyone was up for it - but we'd need to know in advance).
