I've decided that my car pc project won't get picked up again till easily into the new year. I just don't have enuff parts to have a working system and I wanna upgrade my computer and then I can strip the pc133 ram from another one etc.. Also I don't have a power cable still for the touch screen which I had hoped to have by now.
So.. I created this thread and thus I kind of volunteered to organize the next meet so I have changed the meet date back till Mid-Jan next year. This will leave plenty of time for other's to get over the hangovers and the Xmas parties and get back into making some serious car pc's. I'll be sure to let some other forums know like Car Audio Australia who also have a car pc section and people in the Melbourne area who would like to come along and see what it's all about. So if you got friends who are also interested in seeing some cool car audio/pc setups this will be the time to come along. The more people who come along the better.
So stay tuned for the actual date which I will post up here soon and get ready for the Jan Mp3Car meet!
26/11 update: I now have a touch screen power cable on the way so there may be hope in getting my car pc back together before the end of the year.

My car is takin forever ....but Im hoping this is the "anti-climax just before the CLIMAX" sorta thing.
I'm 95% done, but it looks like its only 5% complete. Should ALL come together at the very end .
I'll be ready on Jan 1. Atleast ready enough to show people my CarPC. The subwoofer and boot might still be in progress.

Sounds good. I would like to check it out. Looks like there hasn't been much activity on this thread in a while. My power cable has arrived for my touch screen and Is installed. I just gotta hook up the pc again and pray that my wiring all works out and the touch panel fires up. I hope to test it out maybe tommorow night. If it works then i'm back in business. I may even treat myself to a 1GB stick of ram in the carpc.

NiN^_^NiN, You should post. Then we know your still alive :P
I have fitted my LCD screen. It may not be as pretty as the bought kind but I saved a few bucks. All I gotta do now is try out some frontends and set that up and then i'll be right.
I'm also working in a place for IT that may enable me to score a free LCD screen.. maybe a 15" for the back seats
I realy should post pics. They seems to be better for people to look at. I just haven't had time. I am still well keen on having a meet in Mid-Jan too.

I just have no time to post between new work and the car and life just don't really have time anymore.
That and the fact im installing a supercharger on my car doesn't help with time either :P lol
I'm still waiting on money to buy a nice sub and amp so i can finish off the false floor but that probably wont be done by the meet who knows

Hey there people. I've been gathering some hardware lately from a job i'm doing and wondering if anyone would be interested in buying a 24X slimline cdrom. I can take orders and bring them to the next meet if you like. They are ideal for dashboard mounting. They are not DVD compatable however. Just like the CDROMS you used to see in the laptops. If anyones interested in buying one I am selling them for $20 a piece. Let me know and I can arrange to have one for you.
I'm still keen on the mid-jan meet. I'm planning on being there. I may actually change my computer from my miniITX pc up to a 2.4ghz P4 laptop. Now your talkin' about power! I'm also working on "obtaining" a 12 volt 15" LCD screen for the back seats.
