18th is good.
Is there anywhere Chadston/Camberwell we can have it (little nearer to me).
Also, how about somewhere with/near food.... and we can have lunch before/after/during, so people stick around longer.

Potential Melbourne Meet - March 18, 2007
Hey Iceman,
As far as I know, there's certainly nothing set in stone as yet. Do you have any location suggestions ?
Keen So Far :- Tooch, NiN, Blipman, Long.1, Iceman_jkh
I'm over in the North-West, so it's probably going to be a hike for me regardless. If only I had a completed carputer to take my mind off the drive.
Cheers,
Long.1

18th will do for me, at this stage!
My PC is in and functional, but I'm not completely happy with it, and is likely to change, but you guys can see where it's at anyway

the prob with aus meets is there is never a good amount of people in one area. I thing wagga wagga is a good central place for the majority, no good for me in north qld, 3000km away. Anyone interested in an Airlie beach meet? hehe

The reason i choose boxhill in the first place was based on where everyone lived and the same kinda people from previous meets are the ones coming altho 1 of u seem to have moved
Fact is i don't have time to organise the meet so im just throwing the date and time at the old meetplace cause we know it works has a big enough carpark and is empty on sundays
And we usually went to KFC up the road after the meet and had afew chats before we all went our own ways.
if you wanna organise the meet go ahead i only said 18th cause no1 showed any interest what so ever organising the meet after VX said he would take over.
If no1 wants to orginise this meet (as i said im busy so if someone wants to orgnaise the next meet please feel free) then i'll just set it in stone
After this meet we can do a feeler for the next one and see who is interested and work out whats closer for everyone including iceman :P
Ok so the meet is:
Sunday, 18th March 2007
1pm @ Boxhill Park
it is on the other side of Paul Ave BOX HILL NORTH
Park on the left infront of the oval when u first turn in
Map
My false floor won't be finished either to busy with getting the parts for the Supercharger

Cool. Im happy with that.
Perhaps a little sign "MP3CAR" A4/A5 (?) just where the rego sticker is, might help people identify you/us.

G'day NiN^_^NiN,
I definitely wasn't trying to steal your thunder as far as location goes. My apologies if you took offence. I guess I assumed (from the title) that there had already been a mid-november-2006 meet, and that we were now talking about the next one. I didn't realize that the November meet had been put back several times (to Mid-March-2007). I've now re-read the entire thread.
Also, if not mistaken, your post above is the first reference to a potential location for this next meet.
To be honest I'm not real fussed where it is, as I'm keen as mustard to make an appearance anyway. Whilst I'm hooked on this forum, I'm eager to see a few things in the flesh.
As a CarPC Meet Debutant myself, I'm not real sure what organization needs to occur, so please let me know if/how I can help.
Lastly, can you/anyone confirm that the last Melbourne Meet was August 26 ?
Cheers,
Long.1
P.S. I know what happens when you ***-U-ME.

We never had to use a sign cause lucky us the boxhill park area is always empty
Plus i was always there 30mins before it started for the people who might of came early.
If i can get access to a printer i'll print something out i'll stick the sign on my side window so u know

No problem at all sorry if i came off abit ****ty just i really have no time at all to do this and the last meet i asked if someone could take over cause i had a sick family member and no1 would so i had to get that done and then i just didn't bother doing it anymore
VX steped up to the plate but as u can see its been pushed back afew times for various reasons so thats why im just throwing down a date time and location (its where all the other meets have been so 80% know where to go)
If you want to organise the next meet please do as i said i have to many things to do and don't have time for it.
As for organising I started organising the Melbourne meet awhile ago cause we didn't have anything and there was and still abit of planning that i did do for the meets
Basiclly i check out the location and see if it will hold enough cars and is about central to everyone (i just plotted a map on the suburbs everyone was living in who was interested to find out a meeting point)
Once thats done check with the location in this case the local sports clubs to make sure there isn't any special sporting events etc on the day the meet is happening
Once thats done check (altho not needed) if there is food close by (we usually went to kfc and had some chats before finishing for the day)
Once thats done i go into old threads and create a list of everyone who was even remotly interested then send out mass PM's about the meet and direct them to this thread once thats done i scour the forums for new members in melbourne (they don't usually see this section) and send them an email aswell then then about 1 week before it happens i send another PM reminding them its the following weekend (if anyone says they can't come they are taken off the list as not to annoy them with PM's)
Once thats all done i try to get myself organised and get my carpc and car ready for the meet.
After that you send another email to everyone including the people who couldnt make it a link to the pics thread of the meet.
The last meet was the 26th of August last year Feral organised it i sadly missed it cause of family problems
Thats about the short version of the Melb mp3car meets history really

G'day NiN^_^NiN,
Thanks for jotting all that down. I'm happy to help where I can. It seems like a Melbourne Meet is probably due if it's been over six months since the last one (Aug 26). I'll respond to each section below.
Cheers,

Assume the "proposed" location will be satisfactory as it has been for past meetings. To re-iterate:
Date:Sunday, 18th March 2007
Time: 1pm
Location: Boxhill Park (Map) - on the other side of Paul Ave BOX HILL NORTH - Park on the left infront of the oval when u first turn in.
NiN^_^NiN - Can you PM the specific sports club you're talking about, and I'll give them a ring.

Yep - understand this could be quite time consuming. I'm happy to give it a go. Do you have a previous list that I might start with ?

I have a list of ppls at home somewhere. Ive also kept my 'sent items'
CityEnd, Cœur d'Arcy, Giant, meddler, pcman
a4jet, Gazza, Holden__V8, marin, Phobos0001
grahamrb, mirageboy, NiN^_^NiN, version, vxcarpc
But I also think 18th is too soon, I really only check here about once or twice a month and could have missed it..
I truely believe setting a firm date for 4 months down the line would yield a better turnout..
New date, new thread.. kill this old one..

Hi Feral,
Thanks for the head start - much appreciated. I've had a fair dinkum search for Melbourne Members through previous threads tonight, and I've found:
- A whopping 76 Mp3Car Forum Members that are in Melbourne (all of which have had reasonably recent activity in the forums).
- Another 15 members (some of which you listed) who are from Melbourne but no longer seem to be active in the forum.
- Another 10 members who are in Australia and "may" be in Melbourne.
So basically, I've whipped up a spreadsheet to track it all.
I agree with you that setting a date further into the future will probably produce a better result, but I guess this "Mid-November" thread appears to contradict that. In any case, there seems to be enough interest for March 18, and I don't see why we can't do both. It won't matter a great deal if there's not a big crowd there on the 18th.
In any case, I do agree with you that a new thread is warranted. The "Mid-November" part of this title is probably not attracting many Melbournians.
So here is the new thread - Proposed CarPC Meet - Melbourne, Australia - March 18, 2007. We'll see if this generates enough interest.
Cheers,
Long.1

I think the march 18th is just to get back into the swing of things and catch up with some of the guys from the last meet then we long.1 can organise a proper meet.
long.1
For the list i just go back into previous threads and extract the names and remove the sydney guys (few sydney guys come into the thread now n then) just search in this forum for melbourne u will get all the threads
As for pictures only 1 picture thread was done (we all forgot cams or where to busy in previoud threads much to the dismay of the sydney people)
The sports club i talked to i don't have any info for them i just asked them if they had any sports on that day and if they would mind cars being there they where fine with it.
With new members the site will most likely have to be moved to account for the people further out.
I'll go post in the new thread

Hey there melbourne Car PC users. I haven't been on here in ages. I've been distracted with other various projects but I'm kind of back. I didn't think my post warranted a new thread but I have some computer parts that maybe some of you Melbourne pc would be interested in. I am selling my current CARPC.
* Epia 800 motherboard with onboard everything. VGA, S-video, sound.
* 512MB SDram
* Micro ITX Morex Case with a 60watt Morex DC-DC power supply and regulator so you can hook it straight up to you car no problems. Included is also a coolermaster remote control on/off switch so you can remotely turn the pc on and off. It's realy handy. I don't think they sell them anymore.
Computer comes with no hard drive cause I'm going to take out my 80 gigger however I do have some older 30gig drives that I will throw in to the purchaser for nix to get it running with XP.
Anyone wants to make me a realistic offer please email me at nidz@nidz.net
I have kind of upgraded.. well sort of.. i've been able to obtain a laptop to use instead which will be smaller to put in the car. It's only 1ghz but runs similar specs as the epia800 and won't take up as much room (not that the micro itx takes up that much room).
Ok.. So yeah. I hope to maybe have something rigged up and then maybe get another Car PC meet going. I've been to a few and they are good when you wanna see some stereos and car pc's in action. I've seen some realy neat setups in the times i've been. Maybe we could make the next one even bigger and better. Spread the word across a few other related forums.
