For those of us that live in the frozen north, any built in control options to manipulate start-up based on ambient temp? What is the operating temp range?

I also see that it is "out of stock" in the store (Like so many other things).
If I order today, will it be here yet this year?

Thumbs up Just do it!

HA, that coupon is from like 6 months ago or more. if it didn't expire, that would just be "the retail price" perpetually. you snooze you loose I guess. the coupon was also for those of us taking the risk -- the early adopters as it were.

If I can be quite honest, the G4 hardware is pretty darn nice. It has some things that I think could have been re-thought a bit better:
  • Front USB port should be more on the right side. ideally right bottom, as if you have a stick in, it tends to get knocked by your hand reaching for power or volume.
  • The eject button should also have been on the lower right, or upper right, as you sometimes hit it with the way SD GUI is layed out.
  • It should have more USB ports with more power
  • It should have a line input for connecting other external audio
  • It should have a button to toggle to the RCA input
  • The 'soft' buttons are nice, but they don't work if you're wearing gloves!
  • The fan is a tad noisy. If you're playing music or driving, you can't hear it really. But if you are not playing music -- driving or stationary -- you can hear it running. And it annoyingly runs even if hibernated or suspended.
but perhaps the "G5" (I just made that up BTW) will take the user input into account.

And for sure StreetDeck has some short-commings, but it also has many strengths. Two very important points to keep in mind and keep in check:
  1. It's only a v1.1
  2. It's software! So features can be added and bugs can be fixed.

What I'm trying to say is that for the same price-ish (give or take a couple hundred dollars), you're getting quite a bit more bang for your buck than ANY store-bought unit.
  • I have a 250 GB HD that holds ALL my mp3, and a bunch of movies and clips.
  • I get WiFI
  • I get Navigation WITH google map overlays (so slick!)
  • I get voice control
  • Gestures alone are pretty damn useful
  • I get amazing visualizers -- and can add more
  • Very skinable
  • Plugin/modules
  • OBDII car diagnostics
  • Radio -- with some neat features I'm not at liberty to discuss due to NDA!
  • Bluetooth -- again, NDA.
  • Satellite radio (option)
to name the major things.

My long winded point is that you should just get it. It was easy to install and works very well all things considered. I may be "that guy" that *****es about the software, but all that aside, I am happy with my purchase and encourage others to jump on board. If for no other reason than the more people buying and using it, the more resources SD will have to develop the software and make it all it can be.

*I* didn't. StreetDeck did.

There's a little tool someone wrote (search the threads) "SDMapCache" or something like that. So you just put in a zipcode (or is it Lat/Long? I forget), and it grabs like 36 tiles in all directions. repeat.

Then just file copy those into the proper SD directory and magic ensues...

We have sold out of our current inventory.
Some people decide to use external sound cards for after market amps to provide cleaner sound.
We do not support maps for the Philippines.

You should probably wait for mp3car.com to get more in stock as

1. It is local to the US (saving shipping and other hassels)
2. You get Streetdeck preinstalled

If they aren't going to get more, or you are impatient, try cartft.de
