Power specs of the G4?

Just got the G4, and it's going to be a little bit before I can get it installed in the car. I would like to start playing with it though before I install it, so that I can work out the sound card, and some other things ahead of time. It runs on 12v, but how many amps does it need when it isn't driving speakers? The inline fuse seems to be 15a, and the unit has a 13a marking on the bottom. I'm going to grab a DC power supply for it here shortly, but don't want to go overboard with a 15 amp monster for just the G4 if it's not needed.

I dont know anything about amps, but its a computer. I ran mine fine on the bench using a cheap/standard 380W computer power supply. I just tapped into the 12v line for power and ACC, the ground the ground wire (naturally) and jumped pins 15 and 16 on the ATX connector to power it on.

i want to get a g4 but i need more hard disk space can install a larger drive like 160 gig

in my infill I have an HD of 120Gb, I think you can install a HD as large you need, but you must use the 2.5", I don't know if there is HD largest than 120Gb for HD of 2.5" (see www.cartft.com)

for testing enviroment you should use a power supply with 12V and 5A. (normaly used the G4 without peak 3A)

Some 2,5" HDD´s are critical, you should look to the temperature specifications and shock specifications..

As sample, in a car like mine we have sometimes -20 degrees and i have not light shock absorbers in my car. (bumpers) is a heavy duty 4x4 car-.. ;-)
