There are certain legal ramifications if we as a company were to release a product, support a product, and update a product that would effectively break the law. Allowing full motion video while moving is illegal in certain states/countries. Because we sell a product across the nation and to various other countries we must abide by local and national laws. The testmode feature is there for the very reason the name implies..to allow testing.

ABTsportsline, I believe you add it to the end of the shortcut that launches SD in windows. so you only need to do it once.

i was reading the G4 manual and noticed that the Brown lead on the harness (Remocon) is for steering wheel controls - but it said this feature is currently unavailable. Is this a software feature or hardware feature with the G4? (in other words will this be remedied by a firmware/software update later on? or if we order the G4 now, will we never have the possibility to use our steering wheel controls with an adapter?

This is discussed at GREAT lenghth in various posts, the short answer is no, it does not and will not work. Based on what your car's wiring is there is a remote (no pun intended) chance you might get limited functionality out of it. So, as you can infer, it is lack of software support for what is limited hardware (with too many variables to be compatible with all).
Hope my ramblings made sense, if not search and read the countless other posts/threads that answer it step by step.

Hardware works perfectly with InfillStation software, at least with my 2007 Sorento and with most cars having resistive-ladder style steering wheel controls. But the mp3car.com team seems to think that if they cannot support all cars, they'd better support none...

thank you so much for the input guys.
so is there a listing of which cars have been confirmed that it WILL work?
FYI i am ordering a G4, but need to know if i should order the PAC steering wheel control module, which is pretty pricey... don't want to order it if it won't work. anyone here installed one on an Audi?
thanks again!

any idea where this shortcut is? I've spent all morning searching "testmode" on the forums and find a hundred threads where people talk about testmode, but none where it is actually explained HOW to activate it. Apparently you add "testmode" to the end of a shortcut - but where is this shortcut?
also is there a software program that shows a keyboard? The only keyboard i have at home is a wireless that requires a powered USB port so i won't be able to use it with the Infill - is there just a touchscreen keyboard program you can get and install on the G4?
Thanks so much for your help everybody.

Go the shortcut that activates Streedeck. Check out the properties. There will a parameters input field where you would add command line parameters. Add "-testmode" to it. Save. When SD launches, it will activate testmode. You'll know because it will flag you to make sure that you know it's in testmode and are not supposed to operate it while driving in that mode. You will have to acknowledge the warning to continue.
I've noticed some features don't work with testmode--most notably the Mute button on the G4. I've also had some unexpected behaviors in testmode that I have not had in regular mode. Just watch for it.

Wow....don't you think testing was done?!
When you have people clamoring over each other for a unit like this you're really left with little choice but to meet the consumers wants.
