1999 Forester - Bolt in Touchscreen ok?

Heya guys,

Was directed to this site by some guys i know here at home (Perth, Western Australia) with regards to a touch screen for my forester. I have a 1999 Forester GT and am looking to put in a touch screen (to be hooked up to a mac mini setup for a carputer).

In the store there is this gizmo but it doesnt mention whether it can go into the 1999 model? Only the ones following it.

Does anyone know if it would fit without hacking up the dash?

Also, either i totally such at searching + googling.. or nobody has ever put a touch screen/carputer into my model of forester.

Does anyone have any examples you could direct me to?

Any input would be very much appreciated.

Cheers,

Goose

I would check with other Forester owners at nasioc.com, subaruforester.org, or your local Subaru forum to see if anyone has gotten a stock stereo from an '01+ Forester to fit in a '99. If so, then the bolt-in should work fine.

Worst case, however, you'll need to drill new holes in the mounting brackets in your car to mount the TS kit to.

Or, you could pull your current stereo, take out a ruler, and compare the mounting screw locations you're using on your current setup to the schematics for the TS kit here: http://store.mp3car.com/ProductDetai...Show=TechSpecs

Good luck and be sure to let us know how the install goes!

Oh yes, and welcome to the forum!

If its just a case of drilling some holes it shouldnt be a drama i guess. The thing i am most worried about is actually being able to slot it in and get the plastic cover thingy from the forester dash back over the top.
