transflective screen stock

I'm still debating grabbing one with or without the special treatment, but noticed that it was out of stock. Any hints on availability?

I don't have any ideas, but I will see if I can get Zip-Lock to chime in.

I do know that they will be back as they are a highly desired product on the forum.

They are in very high demand. We probably won't get any more in for at least a few weeks. As soon as we do, we'll update the website.

There is a large demand for most of our products, yes. Its the Transflectives that take the cake as being some of the most sought after stuff we carry.

If you are referring to the 870 or 850, we won't be carrying those anymore. Not many people use Pentium 4's for CarPC's due to heat and power issues. Since it's been eclipsed by the dual core systems in every aspect of Carputing, there is no real point for us to carry it anymore. The 870 and 850 haven't even been showing "out of stock" on our site for quite some time, they have been entirely removed.

Any plans to offer a transflective 10" LCD?

If you are interested in the 10", please contact the store. IIRC, they can do it, but don't offer it on the store since it's a relatively rare request.

While we are definitely expanding our Transflective line, we don't have any plans near fruition for a 10 inch. It'll come eventually, I'm sure, just haven't seen anything cross my eyes.

Hi PatrickJW150,

Would you care to elaborate on your transflective expansion plans ?
Are you able to confirm the monitors / brands that you're looking at ?
Also, what time frame can we expect to see these new models up in the store ?

Cheers,

Long.1

Long.1/Profozone,

As soon as I can say more, I will. We know these things are insanely popular and are not excluding any option right now. We've had a lot of people offer suggestions on what we should do from DIY kits, to a "send-in-you-monitor" option, Transflective motorized units, and everything in-between. We love input on what the consumer wants from the consumer themselves, but with a few other projects on deck, the G4 and a few other things, if we even offer a timeframe at this point, we'll be eaten alive when it will be inevitably pushed back.

Bottom line, we're still too early in the process to have anything nailed down to the point where we can back up what we say. As soon as we do reach such a point though....you can expect a few posts on the matter.

Thanks PatrickJW150,

Appreciate your response, and can definitely understand your position.

In some respects I count myself lucky that I can even consider a transflective screen for my project. I've read that many have not been as fortunate in days gone by. Having said that, finding/justifying the best part of $1000 AUD to purchase/ship one of these screens to Australia is proving difficult. Probably why I'm interested in your future plans.

I guess my real question is one you probably can't answer anyway. Reallistically I want to know if it's worth waiting. Naturally I'd be disappointed to spend now/soon only to find much better/viable options pop up in a few months or so.

Thanks again, I'll keep my eye on the MP3Car Products forum I guess.

Cheers,

They certainly aren't cheap, but all the costs of those monitors are well worth it. I was in a Transflective car awhile back and man, those things really make a difference. Compared to my Xenarc, well, it's not even fair to compare to be honest. It seems like you are still in the middle of a very cool project (according to your worklog). I'd personally finish the rest of the project, then see where we are with that product line. Worst case scenario you'd only be out of action for a few days if we still had no news

Thanks for that,

You're right with respect to my project, it certainly won't be finished this weekend. In fact, I'll be happy to finish at some stage in 2007. Some time up my sleeve I guess.

To be honest, the concept of using a transflective screen has altered my thinking somewhat regarding fabrication. If I end up taking this route, it may simplify my install, as I may not need to fabricate it into the dash, I may be able to position it on top of the dash given it's sunlight readable qualities. We'll see I guess.

Cheers,
