Ok, I am starting this new thread to make it easier to update the link for NASair (i guess that is the name I am sticking with unless someone has a better idea). I will post the newest updates here and you can download the latest version from the link at the end of this post. This should make it easier for people to find the info they need. below will be a list of install and use instructions as well as system requirements.
****INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS****
1. directly below you can download the zip file of NAS (this will be the most up-to-date link)
2. you need to download and install adobe air from
here (this link will take you to the appropriate file for your OS) , you should also make sure you have the latest flash player installed on your machine
note: if you you are using linux you should download the adobe air .bin file from above, run $ chmod +x nameOfAdobeAirfile.bin, then $ sudo ./nameOfAdobeAirfile.bin this should start the installation wizard for adobe air (tested on Ubuntu 8.04 +)
3. obviously unzip said zip file. you should be left with NASair.air
4. double click to install. if adobe air was installed correctly it will give you a standardish install wizard, painless really.
on the first time you run the app you will be asked to locate your music folder (i.e music/iTunes/iTunesMusic) and double click to select.
next NASair will now attempt to import the album art to use in the app. if you have a folder in your documents directory name "NAS AlbumArt" you will be taken to the image association tool. here you can manually associate images and albums by clicking both the image and then the matching album and then clicking "manually associate". When you are done you can click the "Click to finish Manual Association" button to well, finish.
if this is all to much and way to involved, then i am with you. There is a better way. follow the instructions below to get this whole thing done faster.
1. if you have access to all of your album art then all you have to do is put the jpg or png file inside of the corresponding album's folder inside the "NAS AlbumArt" folder in your "documents" directory.
2. if you do not have access to all of your album art but you have had itunes auto download album art for you then NASair will decode the downloaded images and stick them in a folder "NAS AlbumArt". From here you can then move them accordingly.
3. now in album art tool just click "Auto Associate" and you should be good to go.
you should only have to do all of the above steps one time. MediaCar keeps a record of everything and even where you were inside the app and what song was playing.
