Awesome software, I haven't come across any that I liked, in fact I"m still using Coyote's media car. But I"m going to use neocar now!!!
Minor suggustions - GPS button, allow us to implement our own program to run when button is pressed.
- ability to change date/time display( month-day-year and not military time)
- I had 6 pictures in a folder and clicked on 5s slide to display them, it worked fine but after the last pic, it went to another folder and started to display other pics instead of repeating the pics in the folder I highlighted.
Keep up the great work, I'll definetely donate, as everyone using it should.

GPS can already be customized. It is a question of setting the application name in the skin xml file to a name of an external application you have defined in the external applicatoins...
I'm not sure about the time format...
It does this by design, as it will go into the next folder available to play content. This is so if you are listening to an album, for example, the next album will play when one finishes. I'm sure you can ask NetSuo to make a "directory repeat" function, as I think it would be useful.
PS: if you like nmc now, stick around as there will be some new versions sometime that will clear out all the little quirks, and add many flexible features.

- You just need to create a XML file and then open the skin up in skin editor and select the right XML file
You can also embed other programs u just gotta edit the graphics for the new button.

I dont think u can change it i've looked through all the skin commands and can't find anything. Chnging windows format also doesn't help.

As royn said it just moved to the next folder by default and there is no option to change it right now
Keep up the great work, I'll definetely donate, as everyone using it should.[/quote]

I'm aware of the .xml file and I have coded it to work with my Garmin nRoute software. BUT, I was just suggusting that when Neo implements the gps button, let us point to the .exe of the program of our chosing.
Also the applications button goes into the neo main folder by default, I personally don't like this, I'd like to point to a specific folder with all my personalized .xml files. This make sense?
thirdly, the fact that the program switches to the next folder be it pics or music i really don't like. It should be customizable that the same "data" in the folder you have open keeps repeating, not go to the next folder.
Along those same lines the repeat button should repeat the folder list so it doesn't go to the next folder, not repeat the same song in my opinion.
Agian, I'm just trying to help make it better, I know everyone has their opinions, so obviously the more custumizable the better.
Does anyone find it annoying that when you hit the back button let's say to your main mp3 folder (after picking a band folder) it goes back to the beginning of the list, instead of where you picked the folder?
I did donate, and I hope you keep "tweaking" it.

Here is my take...

I dont think this should be changed... imagine you have a GPS button in all your screens, then if you point straight to the EXE you must edit 20 skin files if you want to change GPS programs... if you just reference say "MyGPSProgram" you just change that one path in the XML... it is better coding practice as it keeps the data in a central location if it needs to be changed, and I dont think this should ever be changed, sorry.
Also the applications button goes into the neo main folder by default, I personally don't like this, I'd like to point to a specific folder with all my personalized .xml files. This make sense?
I understand what you are trying to say, but in the same way as .DLL files must reside in a specific windows directory, specific configuration files for NMC will need to be in specific directories of the program... this is really up to the programmer and doesnt bother me as long as upgrade installers dont erase old data
thirdly, the fact that the program switches to the next folder be it pics or music i really don't like. It should be customizable that the same "data" in the folder you have open keeps repeating, not go to the next folder.
To me it makes much more sense going into the next directory than just stopping... your CD changer goes to the next disc when it is finished, it doesnt just stop, same mentality... However, this is purely taste, and I understand different people will have different wishes, this can probably be added as an option
Along those same lines the repeat button should repeat the folder list so it doesn't go to the next folder, not repeat the same song in my opinion.
Usually all stereo systems have Repeat and Repeat1... Repeat=whole directory, Repeat1=this song... no need to remove functionality from those that want ONE song being repeated
Agian, I'm just trying to help make it better, I know everyone has their opinions, so obviously the more custumizable the better.
We are all trying to get the best mediaplayer/frontend out there we are on the same team
Does anyone find it annoying that when you hit the back button let's say to your main mp3 folder (after picking a band folder) it goes back to the beginning of the list, instead of where you picked the folder?
Hmm, interesting, you mean scrolling down to the name of the subdirectory you are coming out of... interesting feature I suppose... but i havent noticed it bothering me, but I think it would be best to have it auto-scroll like you suggest
I did donate, and I hope you keep "tweaking" it.

 hahah NIN
I've got to use it more lately and I really am liking it. Sucks when your use to one thing for a long time when you change to something new, I think it makes you more critical.
On another note...(i'll search the forums) but is there a guide to skinning NMC?

Thank you Cyco for the donation
Just a little message to confirm what has said royN: a new test version will come out shortly.
This new version is recoded from the start and is including much much much more features than actual version.
No release date or other informations for now, it just will come when i'm thinking he's ready.
But, you will not be disappointed, i'm sure.

Cool.
Has anyone said anything about the brightness. The ability to set the program brightness acording to the time of day? So at night the the screen will become darker? Having that big monitor lights up the whole inside of the truck LOL
