Hey is there anyway to change the look of the front page. Since I have a new 07 MINI i was really wanting to put my lilliput in front of the ac but I like the look of the ac console.

My thought was to make a Photoshop image of the console and break it apart to use the buttons for certain thing in the front end. Any ideas NeonDev?

Since I'm a graphic designer I can set this all up in a file that you could make work.

interface customization was one of those things that was higher priority then adding additional sources to the video module

at the moment the only way to customize the NBB images is to manually edit/replace them by digging through the app bundle (as well as the module bundles).

be warned that the color change slider in the prefs will have an affect on any of the red images you edit/replace so if you want custom images to use with a different color then the default red you will have to compensate with a hue adjustment.

one of the first things on the list after 1.0 is out the door is to expand the theming capabilities of NBB. Image substitution will be one of the first things in, and your theme/skin will be able to blacklist images from the coloring adjustment so that won't be an issue in the future.

I don't know if you already saw or not but hanzov69 has a made a custom clock graphic for the MINI freely available here

I did see that post from Hanzov69 I may be able to elaborate on that.

It sound like you have some work cut out for you but this is going to be a very nice Front end when it is all finished.

Hey Neon, I was away for awhile. I've been searching through the forums to see if you had come up with any way to include iguidance or other gps into NBB. I saw where BugByte was suggesting how it could be done but I wasn't sure if you had done anything with it yet or not.

Thanks

people seem to prefer bug bytes method and I pretty much abandoned my way,tho all the work i ever did on it is open source and available for download. with a few tweaks (changing safari to VMware to start), you should be able to get my limited solution to do something useful

I have downloaded the latest version from the site and am not exactly sure how to have something external luanch, like safari or VMware. Also, what exactly was bugbytes solution, all I saw was his suggestion.

I'd have to search for bugbytes exact method (or ask him) but IIRC it is just assigning NBB and VMware to separate spaces and using a controller to trigger the switch between the 2 spaces.

If you download the example from the SDK thread you can find a compiled module it the project that opens safari in an "embedded" window ontop of NBB. just do a "show package contents" on that module and find the launch apple script and edit it to load VM ware/iguidance instead. you will probably want to change the window dimensions in the script as well. that is all assuming something drastic hasn't changed in NBB that would break that module. If so then the example would likely have to be recompiled.

I run NBB in one Space and VMWare/Windows XP running Garmin Mobile PC in another Space. Then I use a Griffin PowerMate to switch between Spaces to flip between NBB and Nav. It would be nice to have a touch-screen trigger, but the PowerMate works very well, too.

you can use the launchscript in the example module to have applescript send the spaces key combo to the "system events" app thus triggering spaces. of curse that leaves you kinda stranded as far as getting back.

That's it. Just assign the VMware to launch in a separate space. Also, reduce the number of spaces to just 2 and you can flip flop them with a single key.

I came up with a way to switch betwenn NBB and gps and anything else for that matter that works pretty good. I downloaded a program called dock-it, which lets you create custom docks. So I just made a dock with spaces on it and made the dock background completely transparent so now I just have a small spaces icon floating there in the upper left had corner that floats on top of everything. I just have NBB bound to one space, iGuidance bound to another, DVD player to another, and misc. other stuff bound to the other. So I just hit the spaces icon and choose the space.
Here is what it looks like on the now playing screen, the icon looks a little out of play but its not horrible, it loos a little more out of place on the home screen (you can kind of imagine where it would be on that screen. On the iGuidace screen it looks like it belongs there though. Also, when you have a dvd playing in full screen the icon is hiddien so it works out well.

just found a link to this in another thread. thought it might work well for some people to switch between nbb and other programs.

It is a mouse gestures program, and im thinking you can program a gesture to trigger spaces back and forth
