Not a crash, but a report of a bug. When in music module, space bar will not trigger the highlighted item.

Example: Tab to Album, down arrows to album name, space bar will not reveal tracks but clicking with mouse does.

yes sir that is true. it has been corrected in the upcoming 6b. space will now act as a click. still no binding for a "double click" however so there is no way to play an entire artist catalog without a touchscreen or mouse device.

I have discovered a fairly critical bug that has gone undiscovered since it was introduced. so prolly back as far as release 3 or even farther.

I would have discovered it sooner but since I don't have a carputer yet I only use NBB for short term testing.

Anyhow the meat of the situation is that the music module will completely hog the CPU by rendering the visualizer even when it is not on screen and even when no music is playing. (I can't believe that nobody has complained about or noticed that one yet)

I have fixed this in release 7 which will see the light of day very shortly. NBB will now only peak at about 10% CPU usage while music is playing (on an intel core 2 duo 2.16)

Now I am looking for volunteers to help me test these things in the future. they will receive special non release builds periodically but are expected to fully test them (ideally by actually using them as their FE for long periods) and email me back with feed back regarding performance over time and bug reports

Release 8: Crash on launch. This is on a widescreen monitor at 1680 X1050. App launches and main screen comes up with dial but without icons for the dial. Beach ball spins for awhile, then app quits unexpectedly.

PPC - dual 1ghz, OSX 10.5. Previous versions would run but did not fill screen like this one tried to.

hmmm. can you post your run log from console when you try to load it in the crash thread? also If it is a crash at launch it may be some residual thread synchronization issues; if you haven't done so already try and launch it again and don't touch anything for about 10 seconds. try that a couple of times and see if you get different results.

ok. try removing all modules except for music and movies from the Neon Boombox/contents/resources/modules folder. and see if it launches then.

If that doesn't work try deleting your itunes.xml and see if it will launch then

last I suppose you could try deleting the Neonboombox prefs...
I googled that "incorrect data check" error and from what I can tell it is an XML error so I suspect the itunes.xml file is to blame (even though it didn't exactly crash when reading it). but the prefs file is also xml

It's the photo module. I tried pulling everything else out and putting it back, then relaunching one at a time. When I added the photo module it quit on launch.

yeah that is where the crash happened in the log. I thought it was caused by a problem in the other thread tho because I haven't touched the photo module since the beginning.... I must have accidently done something to it tho. Time to figure out what I did. odd that it works on mine

So, on my Mac, I can't play any music because all of the filters listed are 'books'. When you try to edit the filters, the only thing to select from is 'books'.

Anyone else have this problem?

delete your prefs and they should come back... I'm still trying to figure out how that happens. it seems to happen to me every once in a while but it is usually cuz of something i changed that caused a problem; i haven't yet expirienced it in a "release".

if deleting the prefs doesn't work i'm going to have to figure it out soon.

did it just happen after running the newest release or did it occur after running it for a while?
