everything displayed in NBB comes from the itunes XML. the music module will only show audio podcasts and the video module will only show video podcasts.

i assume by "won't open" you mean the table is empty yes? if the podcast were recently downloaded you have to quit itunes before they are written to the xml file.

I'm putting my money on the fact that NBB expects the podcasts to have both an artist and an album. I guess they don't all have them and I should correct that. in the meantime try giving your podcasts both an artist and an album

Is there anyway this will be made to also support OSX 10.4? Right now the newest release says 10.5 and above and it doesn't run on my Tiger

no unfortunately it would be too much work. you would have to pay me more than a copy of 10.5 would cost. see the "welcome to neon boombox" thread for details

Are you sure this is the right version? The download is only 2mb and even though it says 8b, it is the old lighter red. The movie player doesn't exist in it, either.

Release 9

please enjoy. remember to post feedback on the new features.

Edit: ignore the problem with the text on our site. My friend will fix it tomorrow, but a least the download is working this time ;-)

Public Release 9-

Main Application

New Features: added navigation support for the apple remote
New SDK features

Bug Fixes: fixed a doubled and skewed focus ring problem on the power and options buttons

Changes: internal code clean up and tweaks for the SDK
added some additional error checking

Known Issues: virtual keyboard can be hard to read. expect the aesthetics to change quite a bit in 9B

Music Module

New Features: added navigation and playback support for the apple remote
finally implemented the virtual keyboard accessible through the SDK
added support for 3rd party visualizers

Bug Fixes: fixed a bug where filters would appear duplicated because the images were not being loaded properly
fixed an issue where no action would load for a filter
fixed an issue with the album art reflection position. was especially noticeable on non-widescreen resolutions
fixed some incorrect positioning for some controls
fixed an issue were the module would look at the table view "clicked row" instead of "selected row" causing key/remote action bindings to not work

Changes: internal code clean up and tweaks for the SDK
added some additional error checking
removed the search button from the key binding chain since the keyboard requires a touch screen
extended the time a playing song can play before the previous button starts the song over
graphical tweaks

Known Issues: apple remote doesn't work while the visualizer is active.

Video Module

New Features: added navigation and playback support for the apple remote
finally implemented the virtual keyboard accessible through the SDK

Bug Fixes: fixed an issue were the module would look at the table view "clicked row" instead of "selected row" causing key/remote action bindings to not work

Changes: internal code clean up and tweaks for the SDK
added some additional error checking
removed the search button from the key binding chain since the keyboard requires a touch screen
protected (iTunes music store) video files no longer show up since apple won't allow 3rd parties play them. (please write apple nasty letters about it)

my pleasure. Expect 9B later today. It packs some major bug fixes for the dial and music player, as well as a bit of new eye candy.

ok so i lied about the eye candy. turns out that the effect screws up the dial rotation. something to do with coordinates. It also screws up the music filters so I have disabled it until I can figure out a solution.

Also my friend has been unavailable to fix the site. until then here is a direct
download

until then here is the rest of 9B

Public Release 9B-

Main Application

New Features:

Bug Fixes: fixed a bug that was preventing dial button positions from being saved!!! nobody complained so i didn't realize it.
fixed a dial bug where clicking an area where a module button overlapped would, instead of triggering the button, would activate the dial rotation

Changes:

Known Issues:

Music Module

New Features:

Bug Fixes: Apple remote now works when the visualizer is active
m4b tracks that are not podcasts now show in the library as books

Changes: if there is room on screen for the three table views to display the first 2 no longer scroll to to show the 3rd; instead they are all displayed together
audible tracks no longer show in the library since they are unplayable outside of itunes

Known Issues:

Video Module

New Features:

Bug Fixes:

Changes: if there is room on screen for the three table views to display the first 2 no longer scroll to to show the 3rd; instead they are all displayed together

Known Issues: nothing new

seems I packaged the wrong music module in the last release. I have updated it and you can download the correct version using the same link.

there is no need to download again unless you want to use the apple remote while the visualizer is running

hope some of you like the work that i have put into the dial to make it actually usable ;-) cuz its been kind of a ***** to get working like a professional piece of software

FYI if the music module mysteriously vanishes just give the dial a good spin to set it right. i'm still working on the graphical issues that Core Animation has introduced!

Public Release 9C-

Main Application

New Features: virtual keyboard keys can now be held down. (useful for scrolling or in the future other purposes)

Bug Fixes: virtual keyboard keys send action on key down instead of key up
keyboard keys, both virtual and physical, no longer cause the error beep when the key goes un-handled
dial buttons can now be dragged to any valid dial position. previously they could only be dragged to positions that were occupied
dial buttons can no longer be clicked before the module is ready for user interaction to prevent some quirks and bugs caused by clicking a module before it is loaded

Changes: new effect when dragging dial buttons so it no longer appears that you are dragging a copy of the button, makes the dial look a bit more professional
dial now delays displaying the modules until they are all loaded. should prevent some possible crash scenarios but needs to be taken an additional step and keep individual modules from displaying until they themselves have finished initializing
virtual keyboard is drawn in a bezel
virtual keyboard font is scaled to an appropriate size
dial buttons that are "inactive" will appear with 50% transparency

Known Issues: dial has some occasional graphical glitches; spin it around to fix. I experienced a crash when closing the keyboard once... don't know what that was about.

Music Module

New Features: added a preference to load the virtual keyboard when launching the module to aid users who prefer quick search navigation

Bug Fixes:

Changes: altered the layout of the preferences

Known Issues: I completely destroyed the scroll as you drag option in an attempt to build from the ground up a much better solution that does not yet exist.

Video Module

New Features: added a preference to load the virtual keyboard when launching the module to aid users who prefer quick search navigation

Bug Fixes:

Changes: altered the layout of the preferences

Known Issues: I completely destroyed the scroll as you drag option in an attempt to build from the ground up a much better solution that does not yet exist

9C was uploaded last night but i accidently screwed up the nib file somehow and broke the albumart reflection so I guess 9D will be up soon. 9D will be the required build for 3rd party modules built with the new SDK I am releasing tonight or tomorrow just FYI. stay tuned
