I read in the change log for ox 10.5.3 that there are some core animation fixes that I'm hoping will cure some of the problems that I am having with it. until then here is this

Public Release 9D-

Main Application

New Features: increased support for 3rd party modules

Bug Fixes: clicking and dragging on blank dial slots will now rotate the dial instead of seeming like clicking on an invisible button
it seems that dynamically loading the modules has inadvertently cured most of the graphical issues with the dial at app launch

Changes: more ground work for the SDK
modules are now 100% built from and linked to the SDK framework
modules are now loaded on a separate thread significantly shortening app launch time
clicking and dragging on a disabled module button now rotates the dial (except of course when rearranging the buttons)

Known Issues:

Music Module

New Features:

Bug Fixes: the "No Album Art" image is once again loaded for songs missing their artwork. oops for breaking that
the reflection is back. once again oops

Changes: more ground work for the SDK

Known Issues:

Video Module

New Features:

release 9E

if you are wishing to test the beta radio module this build is required (unless you previously downloaded the special radio NBB build)

DOWNLOAD

Public Release 9E-

Main Application

New Features:

Bug Fixes: dial tracking area is once again circular not rectangular
fixed a bug with sending table actions from a multi-column table
fixed a bug where using the virtual keyboard to send an action that would cause the window supporting the keyboard to loose it key status would cause the keyboard to lock up and the next window would cycle through and become stuck at the top of the screen

Changes: virtualkeyboard inner workings no longer rely on a timer. functions much smoother as a result.
virtualkeyboard should now, in theory, support multiple simultaneous key presses if multi touch technology were available

Known Issues:

Music Module

New Features:

Bug Fixes: module now remembers the selected visualizer after exit

Changes:

Known Issues:

Video Module

Hey would it be possible to create buttons to run 3rd party applications like the PSUmoni software I have for the mac Carnetix power supply. I would even like to be able to open it up on screen to see my status readings if at all possible. Thanks in advance.

yes. As I told super fly if you can write an apple script to open and bring to the front 3rd party apps I will build in functionality for NBB to execute scripts upon module launch which means essentially you can bind the incomplete modules to your script and if you feel ambitious you can replace the module icon with one that better reflects what it will do

while i'm posting in here I may as well put up my latest port from I visualize. you will need to replace the current not working visualizer in the "NeonBoombox/contents/resources/modules/musicmodule/contents/resources/visualizers" folder with this one

Ok I've noticed some more problems:
First the remote stops working when the computer is placed into standby and I pretty much have to close the program and restart it to get it working again.
Also I've noticed that the video player is only playing 2 videos and not all of what I have in my library and this is regarding music videos.

I'll look into the remote issue. pretty sure Its because i ask for the remote when the program launches and it looses it when it sleeps should be pretty simple to have it request the remote on wake.

I guessing that the music videos that don't play are protected yes? NBB and any other third party application are currently unable to playback protected videos and since it cannot play them it ignores them and won't display them. the rule of thumb is if you can play the video in finder then NBB should play it.

EDIT: there I fixed it so that the remote is reinitialized after system wake. thanks for pointing that out. should have a minor release out in a day or two for you to download.

I have the script to open iGuidance...its pretty simple it just launches it. I think it will be okay because iGuidance has a built in fullscreen button that could be used if it doesnt launch centered or whatever. The only thing I dont have, which you said you could do is the button or whatever to get back to NBB. I'll put it on here when I get home.

Not to be a pain as I have suggested this solution before, but how about having NBB put a transparent window with a big, transparent button on it that overlays the display portion of iGuidance. You can see through it to see iGuidance, then if you touch the button, it returns to the main menu screen of NBB.

Almost exactly the way it works for the non-implemented modules now. Like games has a black screen and a button at the bottom. Make the screen transparent and the button much, much bigger. Keep that window top-most and view iGuidance through it.

that sounds like a great idea. let me see if I understand it.

basically you want a window with a hole/holes cut out so that you can see/interact with the application in the background correct? did I miss what you want?

how does all this work with iguidance having to run in fusion or parallels? I have neither so I will be shooting in the dark

Edit: after rereading your post I think i indeed missed what you were saying. even so it still sounds like I will need to be given some coordinates in order to get it right

I would look like this drawing. The NBB window is depicted in black with yellow line (of course, it would actually be transparent). The blue 'big button' would also be transparent but would be on the NBB window. The NBB window and button sit as the 'top' window but you can see through them. Touching the area of the screen where the window/button is would return you to the main menu screen of NBB.

It might just be easier to do the same thing but just overlay the entire screen. You just wouldn't be able to mess with the controls of iGuidance.

yeah i guess thats how i got confused. I assumed that you would need to interact with guidance, thats why I was thinking i would have to create a frame that fits around the guidance window. I assume apple script can reposition/resize windows.

whatever you guys feel is best. it doesn't matter to me.

Applescript can resize and reposition windows as long as you know what the name of the window is. It can be tricky to figure out, but I know it can be done because my applescript front end was able to do it.

I had no idea you had/have an apple script FE. what happened with that? if you don't mind my asking.

also have you had a chance to try your radio with NBB yet? i'm anxious to see if it will work
