The motherboard has no PCI slots, so no PCI cards for you.
And I'd look at something better than an M3 for power.

Thread moved to proposed setup forum. Search on "Mini-box and their products" for more information by Darque on them.

duly noted! thank you! i will keep searching.

suggestions on this? i liked this one because it has so many features like the sleep mode though now i am finding out that the sound card i want is not compatible. is there a thread on the subject? i have not been able to find a substantial one with alternative suggestions.

ok, found another potential motherboard,
Intel
DG45FC LGA775 Mini ITX Intel Processor Motherboard
http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/p...9&sku=A1753031
three newb questions,
1) in the specs i cannot find weather or not the board has pci imputs. am i overlooking the description or is it refered to by something else?
2) description implies included processor but specs don't appear to include it. am i right in assuming that it does not?
3) under sleep/wake up spec it says, "Keyboard wake up, suspend to RAM (STR), mouse wake up, wake on PCI device, wake on USB port"
I have been told the sound card i want (M-Audio Delta 1010 LT) will not work with the sleep/wake feature but the spec implies it will. wtf?

i think that 4 gb is overkill for a carpc, but it won't hurt anything...
opus, and dsatx power supplies both have more reliable solutions...
you didn't say what size of hdd, but i would recommend a 2.5" laptop drive-- they are built more for a mobile environment, but if you already have a 3.5 80gb, it will not hurt to use(there are many members that started off using a 3.5" hdd, and are still using one many years later). but if you have to buy it new, a 2.5" laptop drive will be better.

i have this mobo... best one i've ever used by far
1)i believe it has one pci-e... thats it
2)no processor, i use the e8400.. 3ghz. with 2gig ram and a 2.5 sata drive i can run the system bare with a m1-atx
3)if you're going to use a pci video card this board wont work for you at all

I would stay away from anything with the 775 socket if possable. Yeah they are much cheaper CPU's but the 775 is a desktop CPU socket. They dont make any mobile procs for that socket. That means 65W TPD on just the processor. That is a ton of heat to get rid of. Yes it will work but why make more headaches for yourself? You should ask yourself if you really NEED that much computing power. The M3 is a bad choice go for at least the M2. The more ram you have the longer it takes to come out of hibernation

So?

65w TDP is NOTHING for a CPU. There are CPUs on the marked that have twice the TDP and have been used in vehicle installations.
There are plenty of power solutions for a CPU of this power. AS long as it is adequately cooled, it will work just fine.

the hottest my cpu as shown is 100f on a 110 degree day and thats with no cooling other than the cpu fan, on a 3 hour trip stored in the trunk of my car. You have nothing to worry about there.

It depends entirely on the case in which the setup is put. A MoCoSo case doesn't have much airflow, so a 65w CPU is the max I'd put in there. I have a MoCoSo case with a 45w AMD 4850e, and it runs hot. I'm actually thinking about drilling holes directly above the CPU fan, I've heard that helps.

Kross
Do you have a old MoCoSo case with the exhaust and ventalation directly across from each other or one of the new ones with the intake and exhaust offset?
