new to the world of carputers and about to ask some stupid questions
hello all,
I was hoping someone here might be able to help me.
1. Where can i get Destinator 3 SDK from? i cant seem to find it anywhere, im planning on using it with Map Monkey embedded in Road Runner.
2. mp3car's store sells a convertible friendly modified 7" screen. does this actually work? can you read everything even with direct sunlight? any pics or vids of it working would help.
3. Which usb GPS module should i be using? i need to mount it on my dash since i have a convertible.
4. can i integrate phonecontrol.net with road runner? if so how do i do this? so that it runs embedded in the road runner skin. i will be using bluetooth as the connection method.
5. i want an actual volume knob rather than jus the touchscreen controls. can i buy a usb one? any help in this matter would def be appreciated.
6. i have quite a complicated audio set up at the moment. 2 subs in the boot, 2 6x9s in the rear quarter panels 2 components in the front. all run of 3 amps (one for the front, one for the back, and one for the subs). can i simply connect the relevant outputs from the pc sound card to the rca inputs on the amplifier?
7. I am going to fit a digital tv card in the carpc, can anyone recommend a good external aerial that will pick up signal even on the go? i've got a bmw e36 convertible with the beesting aerial on the drivers side (uk, so right). i dont mind fixing a similar looking aerial to the other side, hence the choice for an external one.
8. I have an AV switch in the car which allowed the dvd player and ps2 to be viewed on either screen indepently. its a 4 in 3 out av switch, can i connect the car pc as one of the inputs as well as running the vga (dsub) to the main touch screen at the front?
lol, i know its a lot to ask, but im sure there will be more as the project gets underway.
thanks,
Amit K

RedGTiVR6...you nailed it.
I will do the standard...
Pretty much everything you asked had a keyword within the line that you could put into the search window and come up with a group of results.
It may sound obvious...but when we have a wonderful library of information in this message board, all itemized by topic, that you desire to have duplicated right here...it seems like a terrible waste of space and bandwidth.
Now stand by for the flamethrowers.

Nameeri's thread has a video. Yes it works. Why would they sell it if it doesn't work?

We wont do your shopping. Search with "SirfIII".

have you searched at all? But yes. Find out yourself. It already does. That is the best way.

Look in the store. Haptic encoder.

Yes.

No. PC TV tuners dont work while moving. They suck. As with USB radio dongles. The HQCT is the best for radio, but only North American radio. In the UK, you are pretty much out of luck unless you buy a local HU and run it for radio.

I don't know what you mean. You want to display your computer's screen cloned on both the RCA connection and a seperate vga monitor? Yes you can. Search.
As red has so elegantly put it, this is a flame thread waiting to happen.
You really need to search before you post. From your questions I assume you didn't. You have used your 1 free n00b post. No more.

Actually, looking at the time, this is about when we were cleaning up.
And you know I'm just bustin' your chops.
Kudos for Badger-man for the very detailed post. Very helpful.

Fellas & Ladies....
I Need Some Help. I Am Still At The Software Testing Stage. I Have Managed To Get Phonecontrol.net To Recognise My Phone, I Can Make And Receive Calls While In Standalone Mode. What Is The Next Step? How Do I Get It To Work In Road Runner, I Am Using The Simplistique Bmw Skin That Lloyd Designed.
Also, Freedrive.co.uk Is The Site For The Alternative To Destinator Sdk Correct? I Cant Seem To Get Onto It.

You need to ask your question about road runner and phone control in the road runner forum.
