Carputer in 1963 Nova

Hello, Fellow Car Enthusiasts,
I'm in the process of designing and installing a carputer for my 1963 Chevy II Convertible.
I have most of the pieces I need for this project. I will be trying to make a floor console mounted screen display with drink holders made of stainless steel. Most of the components will be mounted under the dash.
Carputer
Dell Sx270
7" touchscreen
sony xm-4s 500 watt amp
sony 4x6 speakers
Rockford Fosgate Silver Braid 4 guage amp kit
Wifi adapter
wireless keyboard/mouse
GPS (maybe in the future)

Software
Roadrunner w/winamp

If you have any suggestions or ideas leave me a reply.

I suppose one could find a stand-alone engine management system for one of those too. I just think that's something that should be done when putting a computer into an old musclecar.

Oh, I agree 100%!

If you want to go balls out, an LS-6 or LS-8 motor dressed up in some powdercoat & chrome finery would be the bees knees in ANY hot rod!!
Street & Performance out of Arkansas makes some sweet motors.
I've seen their work under the hoods of many rods, from Corvettes to Deuces to pickups. They never cease to make me drool.

Really, any EFI motor can be tuned from the carPC.
I have a '54 Chevy pickup that is rusting away. When we move, I fully intend on getting that beast running, and one of the goals is to have a PC setup to tune the motor.

We've all got our favorites.

A quality motor from any vendor/builder is a very good thing.

Very cool project, I love seeing people putting modern touches into classic cars. If you haven't already, I'd look into upgrading the alternator in your car to handle to extra power that the computer will require. In the 60's they rarely had enough capacity to power everything in the car, let alone a computer.

I'm was thinking of replacing my Bose factory amp with one of these. How do you like it? Also, I think it's 50 watts RMS x 4, not 500 watts.

Anyone else tried this amp? I am considering pushing a pair of Infinity Reference 6012i speakers for the front and a pair of Infinity Reference 6022si speakers for the rear.
