What do you mean by "what will you need to install"? Are you talking hardware? Are you talking software?

Software mostly i was planning on putting windows xp home or pro dont no yet, but if you will tell me this is right. Im going to run a 10G wire from the batt to the pc and a 10G ground wire to the frame, then a ignition wire switch.

I would get a Ground/Power distribution block, a good USB Hub, an external USB enclosure for the DVD drive, cables, etc.

A distribution block may or may not be necessary.

The 10awg should be more than adequate for what you're using.

I'd go with Debian Linux.

Personally, I believe in the "XP Pro" edition, but it's probably overkill for what you have in mind ... unless you need a lot of the system admin & networking toolkits. "XP Home" will do you just fine, I think.
