The touchscreens for PC are all VGA, as far as I know.
Most of the touchscreens that accept composite or SVideo typically control a headunit (DVD & CD playback, radio tuning, etc.).

So yeah, you're pretty much "stuck" with VGA. I have no idea why that's a bad thing, though. Most PC displays look like poo on a composite or Svideo connection.

The touch portion of the screen is USB and has nothing to do with the video input. Try all of them and see which you like best. My guess would be the VGA. But keep in mind that touch screens are basically 2 different items in one. First is the monitor and is just a standard VGA monitor. Then an overlay is added that gives you touch capabilites and are usually USB. I say usually because sometimes they are part of a factory computer unit and while the concept is the same (data transfer), the cabling might be different.

You're not going to be able to purchase a PC-compatible touchscreen without VGA input, though.
Sure, you can cobble together a composite screen w/ a USB touch panel, but you're not going buy one with that configuration.

One of us is missing something. I went with a Xenarc 7" model 700TSV. It has VGA, plus 2 other type video connections. Any of them will work for Video. The touchscreen portion of the monitor is USB interface, and has nothing to do with the video input as all touch data is sent through USB.

Direct from Xenarc...

5-wire resistive Touch Screen (USB) *New*

The screen could be blank (VGA cable disconnected), but the touchscreen still work. The touch portion does not travel through the VGA cable. It is a separate intity.

Daniel, I think you're missing the point that a composite screen will not have touchscreen... you are pointing towards a top of the line VGA screen that offers composite inputs.

newowner: you won't find many on this forum going with the composite inputs, that low of video quality is ONLY suitable for video, you'll need vga if you intend to read text from a gps or choose songs, etc. if you do go with composite, just plan to have VERY large fonts

OH!!! I just reread his original again.........my bad........

Now I see the confusion....and yes, it was on my part. No, all touchscreens will have VGA for resolution......

What I was saying is he could use any of the video connections on a VGA touchscreen.
