Do i need an amp???!!!

i have a 2000 model Volkswagen Polo (Mark IIIF) with the VW gamma unit(came with the car). i have just bought 300 Watts peak 6x9 3 way JBL Speakers to be placed in the back of the car along with 150 watts peak JBL tweeters.

i was wondering whether i would need an amp do go with this and if so which one is the best for me. I do not intend to buy a sub as i believe these speakers will do the job, i just want to ensure that the sound quality is tip top.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

i've a Polo 2001 and used to have the gamma unit, i think its output was around 40W or 45W x 4 which will do just fine for your new speakers but you won't be able to hear a loud clear voice.

i bought the Sony XS-V6950 (400W - 4 way) speakers and installed a Kenwood KAC-5202 (125w x 2) to give them power. They are giving me a loud and clear voice.

But always remember that when installing the amp there are extra things to do, such as:
1- connect it to a separate power.
2- but the converter to connect it to the back of the head unit as you can't connect it to the normal output.
3- buy a long RCA cable to connect the converter from the back of the head unit to the amp in the trunk (i needed about 10 feet).
4- where you install it because we have a small trunk, for my self, i have installed it in the back of the shelve to save place and to be easily removed when wanted.
