Want to hook up my Sandisk mp3 player to my 2001 Jetta monsoon radio

I want to hook up my Sandisk mp3 player to my 2001 Jetta monsoon radio. The radio has a cassette player but no CD player. I know I can buy a FM transmitter and/or a cassette adapter to plug in my mp3 player. So one of my questions is, how well do these things work? The other question is, can I buy a cable somewhere that would allow my mp3 player to plug directly into the CD port on the back of the radio?

Thanks for your help.

A cassette adapter will almost always produce better sound quality than an FM modulator.
Neither one is great quality, but both options will work.

For your stereo simplest way is the AUX device.
CD quality with 5 min install time.
Do not forget to get removal tools to simplify installation.

Thanks for the info to both you guys. I'll go the cassette adapter route if I am unable to find the appropriate cable to plug into the AUX port. So where do I purchase such a cable and where do I get the radio removal tools?
