lookin to build my first car pc

i'm poking around the idea of building a car pc. i have an older gateway in my basment. my girlfriends dad gave it to me a couple years back. i never started it up or anything, so i don't know what its running as far as OS, or RAM or anything really. i just am pretty sure its on win2k though, judging by the age of it.
what i guess i need to know is, what is the bare minimum for a carputer? or what have you experienced users gotten away with as far as old crapper comps. my plan was to upgrade the hd to something bigger, and get a cheap touchscreen monitor. then interface through the stereo input in my pioneer hed unit. i am very experienced with car audio installation. so the install won't be a prob. let me know any thoughts. thanks

oh btw, this will be going in my winter beater, cause my summer car's suspension is way too rough,& my girlfriend won't let me put it in her car.

There are people that run old P2-based setups that work just fine for music playback.

Without knowing the specs of the old PC, there's no way to know whether it is suitable for the uses you want.

Crank that suckah up and check it out!

ya, i'll have to try and drag that turd out of the basement. i don't even know if i have a keyboard for it, or mouse.
as far as the videos i would play, they would all be in xvid/divx codec, no discs at all.
