Help me start.. have stereo + Laptop

Hello everyone,

I have read a lot on this forum. But the more I read the more I get confused. I am not that technical but pretty good with general computing and can wire stuff around on my car.

I have

1) Viao Laptop, 1gb Ram decent processor PIII
2) Kenwood stereo
3) Mitsubishi FTO

What would be the best and most cost effective way to start. I want to utilise the car stereo so not to waste it.

Thanks in advance.

If you have an amplifier, you can just run 3.5mm headphone jack to RCA cables to your amp. Then for power, get a DC power supply and replace the laptop one, or buy an inverter if you do not want to hack up your laptop.

Again, take this info with a grain of salt, as I am new here as well.

Considering we are missing a lot of information, it's tough to suggest anything.
So you've got a laptop and a car stereo. One might assume that you want to play music from the laptop through the stereo..

That's pretty simple. Read this FAQ: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/advf...iew&advfaqid=7
Apply what is appropriate to your setup.

Now, if you want to do a lot more than just connect the laptop to the stereo, toss us some specifics about what you want to accomplish, and we can direct you to information that's specific to your plans.

Sorry if my post lacked information, I am a newbie here

I want to run the carputer from my laptop but I also have a car stereo, is this stereo neccessary? would it improve music quality compared to just using the power from the laptop.

What I want to achieve? I want the laptop in the boot and a touch panel at front. I did look at a lilliput but that double-din. Thats all the spacce I have. If I were to keep the car in one din can anyone recommend a single din touch screen which would go nicely with this setup.

Also I want this system to play music, movie files etc also Sat Nav. I already have a blue tooth GPS.

Sorry about all the noob questions.
