Hey first post here (makes me scared)...

Was looking on thoughts for my proposed setup. I'll post in the Showoff thread when I actually start putting it together. Been doing a lot of searching and reading which lead me to these choices so far, but feedback is always useful (unless it's positive feedback... anyone else think that's ironic?)

I drive a 2003 Subaru Impreza WRX. Stock head unit (6 cd changer). The previous owner had an amp/sub setup, so the cars wired for it already but it's just running the stock stereo now. Not sure how that would effect my setup but may simplify things when i decide on soundcard/stereo setup.

Planned consumption would be about 185 watts total, so I opted for the DSATX. It looks to be suitable for everything and at a good cost. Trying to avoid running an inverter. But maybe someone more experienced will convince me otherwise?

I'll be using my Samsung i760 pocketPC to use Verizon's EVDO network for internet and will probably just use a usb stick for wi-fi unless the reception is bad and I need a good antenna. Still deciding on where to mount everything.

I'm still deciding on a GPS receiver. I was thinking of the Freedom Keychain GPS receiver since I'd be able to use it with my phone too when I'm walking around, it's bluetooth and gets good reviews. Fairly cheap too.

I'd like to have USB and composite ports built into the dash or center console.

My eventual plans include things like the fuzion brain, rearview cameras, automation, OBD interface... I love my car and recently decided to keep it, as opposed to selling it and buying a new 08 STi... so I'm going to go all out with turning it into an autonomous lifeform.

What do you guys think? Any thoughts on particular component choices?
