When doing this kind of install do you remove your cd tray and extend the wires so it can be mounted in the dash? Or do you just leave it be and mount the case somewhere that you can get to it?

External USB DVD player. Mainly just a housing that you can put a laptop drive into and plug into a USB port.

Look at your local E-Pay site and do a search on External USB Slim Notebook DVD Drive Case and you'll get an idea. Throw in a slot load player and your cooking with gas!

Ide cables are unreliable over a couple feet.

You need to use a usb enclosure for your disc drive (if you plan to mount it in dash).

If you mount laptop in the trunk, you'll probably need a powered usb hub up front to run the drive also. MOst long usb runs (12-15 feet) cause power issues when running high draw devices like a dvd/cd drive. Hense, the need for a "supplimental" power source........

Cheers

(Edit- hmmm, need to type faster it seems )

The way things are starting to shape up it looks like there is a good chance the "laptop" or case will be under the passenger seat. It is a full size van I'm working on so I have the room under the seat and that would be close by for all the cables.
