New to it all -- usb + inverter install

I wanted powered usb ports in my car because I think a cigarette adapter is stupid. I went to frys and picked this stuff up:

120 ac inverter
power dongle
usb hub

(gotta love digital calipers!)

I scanned my switch cover and drew it in turbocad. From there I measured the USB hub and the power dongle. Originally I wanted to install the conventional plug on my dash aswell but decided against it becuse some things are pretty tricky to plug in due to size. I decided to just let it hang down the passenger side just past the trim.

Heres the finished laser cut covers. For the USB hub, power plug, and just a test fitting cover.

Here it is installed in my car:

And a video of the laser cutter in action (which also is USB )

Ok that's just not fair using a laser cutter...

PS. Why not wire the USB hub directly into the DC of the car? The car puts out DC current, then you are converting that to AC with the inverter.... Then the USB hub is converting the AC back to DC for its use. Very inneficient.

Not only that but:

12v unregulated into a 5v device = not good.
