First project specs, carpc on a corolla, want people's opinions and guidance

I was reading around saw you guys around here posted some very useful information and some of you are actually very good with this stuff so i figured i would post what i think im going to use and you guys could let me know if its good and also give me general idea as to if it will work...

here is the specs:

Intel BOXD201GLY2A Intel Celeron 220 SiS 662 Micro ATX Motherboard/CPU Combo

TOSHIBA HDD2H03/MK1652GSX 160GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Notebook Hard Drive - OEM

Kingston ValueRAM 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 533 (PC2 4200) Desktop Memory

AC/DC Power Brick 120 Volt AC to 12V DC 1.5A (so i can install everything safely in my house then move it to the car)

Looking at a few PSU's
M2-ATX 160W Intelligent DC-DC PSU

or the

M4-ATX 250W Intelligent DC-DC PSU (not too sure that i will need all this power to run these reletiveley low powered components but was thinking about it)

Looking at a few cases as well:

Morex 5677 Mini-ITX Case w/ 2.5" HDD Mount (no PSU) (looks boring as hell but i see they got the intel in there safely and sice my hdd is 2.5 form factor and low power consumption to boot its not a bad deal for 59 bucks from mp3car.com)

VoomPC-2 CarPC Enclosure (not sure if its any good)

if anyone has any other suggestions to pc case that may fit this particular mother board i would love the help and be able to see some diffrent models that maybe i missed...

also as far as the screen i am all over the place im looking at a few i would like an in dash screen because quite honestly i dont want ti to be noticable when i leave the car i live in a bad neighborhood and i will get robbed lol but they seem to be pretty expensive so well see i was looking at this particular model not sure how good it is

XENARC 700IDT™
7" IN-DASH LCD Monitor w/ VGA & Touch Screen

Any help/opinions would be appreciated planning on begging this project and finishing it next week

The only thing that stands out as unsuitable is the power brick - a 1.5A output won't oven make the CPU fan kick over, let alone boot the system up. If you use a 160W PSU in the car, that presumes it can kick out 13A at 12V (yeah yeah, THEORETICALLY.) So you're going to need at least a 5A brick indoors to boot the system, and a 10A to guarantee stability.

As for the rest, the D201GLY2A is well documented on this site. If you're using a new expensive hard drive, make sure it's well-cushioned against knocks, and as for the case, it all depends on where you want to fit it inside the Corolla.

If you don't want your screen stolen, mount it indash recessed, and then have a dummy front of an old tape deck to clip over the top whenever you park

thats a very good point you just made about the power brick =)~ i missed that big time....

the hard drive isnt that expensive i mean its like 60 bucks so its fine... but i will coushin it depending on the case

im not sure about the case im thinking i should put the computer in the arm rest of the corolla i think i should be able to fit it that way i can easily connect USB things to it such as say a USB wifi card and maybe a USB bluetooth card and such that will make the system that much better i dont wanna install fancy antenas that require me to run more cables id rather just throw some usb wifi and bluetooth on there and a usb gps receiver which i already have and have Microsoft streets and trips ready to rock...

My biggest thing is i dont know what case i should use and what screen i should use because i deffently need the screen to be in dash because the corolla has very little room in there for the screen to be on the actual dashboard even if i can cover it like you said it would take away from my view while im driving the vehicle and it wouldnt be good but if i put it on the dash it would be in eye view with the other instruments and wouldnt bother me at all.... which is what im going to go for i can run the cables inside from the arm rest to the in dash monitor and it wouldnt be a problem and also because the carpc would be in the side arm rest it would be easy to remove and maintain and also easy to add new usb things to it....

does anyone here know some good in dash either motorized or non motorized monitors that i can look at? i been looking online but all i see are TV's... and here at mp3car all i see is one in dash model wanted to see if i got other options...

and anyone who installed that D201GLY2A succesfully can you tell me what case you used and how its working out for u?

im thinking of just buying a micro atx case but that may be a bit big for the armrest but that would be the best because i could use a slimline dvd player/burner too =/

so many things to consider any help is greatly apreciated since this is my first project

thats a very good point you just made about the power brick lol...

got a link to one that would work because honestly i didnt even think about completly slipped my mind... it seems a power brick is alot easier solution then using a power supply like the faq's say here....

the in-dash monitor with 1 din is really the only option for a corolla to be within eye view and not disrupt driving.... so im looking around like crazy for a good in dash monitor

as far as the case goes im not considering this case VoomPC-2 Car PC Barebone it seems very atractive and will allow me to include a slimline dvd player in the case...

im hoping that should fit somehwere in my armrest as it has some room i could run the cables from the armrest to the in-dash monitor i would be using im thinking thats the best solution for me... the hardest part will be running the power cable from the battery that far to the arm rest...

if you have any other cases you suggest for intel that would be fantastic and any other in-dash monitors besides the one here at mp3car.com because there is only one im not sure how good it is...
