VW CarPC build questions

Going to put a CARPC in my 2003 VW Bora (Jetta). Just curious are there any wiring issues or electrical I should worry about in the instance of no longer using the harness from my car to my Monsoon head unit anymore? Also what do you recommend for a sound card for the best sound quality under 100$. Thanks!

Here is a thread talking about setting up a aftermarket deck in an '02. From what I could tell you can continue to use the monsoon Amp to power the speakers.

As for sound:
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX USB 24Bit External Sound Card

Read this.

I put an aftermarket Sony Xplode in my VW Beetle (2001) without knowing any of this stuff and remarkably, it worked with no problem, so YMMV. If it doesn't, that thread will help you out.

No I will be using a JL Audio 300/4 amp as the amp. So I just wanna know if the head unit controls anything in the car electronically I should know of?

I will be replacing speakers as well in case anyone didn't catch on that I'd be replacing the entire system. I'm gonna do this right. Two JL XR650CSi's and two JL XR650CXi's and then a stealth box 500/1 for the sub/sub amp

Well, the headunit signals the monsoon system to turn on. If you remove it, it may not turn on.

if you are no longer using any stock components, then its does not matter if it is a vw, or a Honda, a car audio install requires the same steps no mater what car it is.

it can only get more interesting if you start using stock components.

Okay that's all I wanted to know for that, I've just noticed with some cars that removing the stock radio can affect other electronic components and VW has some strange wiring sometimes so I wanted to be 100% sure.
