Power Xenarc Brand Monitor

I just purchased a Xenarc Monitor and was doing some searching around the fourms, and couldn't find a direct answer to a question i had.

How do you do the following suggestion?

2) Use a Xenarc brand monitor wired directly to the car's electrical system (ACC line). The Xenarc has a built-in regulator.

By wiring it to the ACC line, the monitor will turn on/off with the car's ignition.

---
My orignal question was how am i going to power the monitor, and now that I have figured that out, how do I do this. Any feedback would be helpful.

Never power anything off the ACC line. It is only made to send signals to turn a device on. Here is how you do. Go to your local autoparts store and buy a relay. Then follow these:

Using a Relay to Turn On you screen:

Step1. Connect the ACC lead pole 85.
Step2. Apply ground to pole 86 (ground from radio wiring ground).
Step3. Put positive voltage from the battery (positive from radio wiring positive) to pole 87.
Step4. Attach screen positive to pole 30 .
Step5. Attach ground of screen to ground (ground from radio wiring ground).

You find a power line that only receives power when the key is in the ON position. There are some devices that are only on when you turn on the vehicle like cigarette lighters, power seats, power mirrors, and the like.
The only way to make 100% certain is us a digital multimeter and measure the voltage of a power line with the key off (should read 0v) and witht he key on (should read ~12v).

The power draw of an LCD is not very heavy.
As such, there should be no issue tapping into an existing circuit for the purpose of powering an LCD. Lots of members power their LCDs this way.

another way to power it is if your Psu has a 12v rail.

True it should not be a problem but it is sort of an electrical no-no to cascade things off of what is supposed to be a trigger line only. It leads to bad habits and people thinking they can power anything off of it, and it is better to power it off of an IGN tripped relay.

But again, powering it directly from the ign line should be ok.

see im a total newb when it comes to electrical work is it ok to power this thing off my existing radio power cable which will not be used anyway since this monitor is basically going where my radio is... the thing im talking about powering right out of the readio is the xenarc MDT-X7000 i was planning on doing this on monday and it seems logical since that power wire which has been conveniently run there by the manufactuerer is going to go to waste if i dont use it
