New to the forums and CarPCs

Hello All,

I'm just starting my research on what it would take to build a CarPC. I've seen others build them in the past, and I've know about the site for a while (I've lurked here and there). I've always wanted to build one, and I'm now starting to do the research.

I want to build one primarily for the diagnostics, but having all the bells and whistles would be great too. I also already have a screen I used in a previous stereo installation (Alpine TME-M740BT) that I would like to use. I already saw the thread about using the Alpine screen, and I'll be closely following it.

Anyways, I would just like to say hello and I look forward to learning from all of you!

Thanks.

You might want to read that FAQ. If your screen is the EXACT same model as the one they are modifying, then you should be fine. However, I believe there's only 1 or 2 Alpine monitors of high enough resolution to work for a CarPC.

Welcome to the world of CarPC's. To get started, go to the top page of this site:

http://www.mp3car.com/

and read the Car Computing 101 page.

Then read the WIKI.

All the questions you asked and many others are answered in those two pages.

On any of the forum pages, you can click on the tab for FAQ and get highly detailed info on a number of areas of interest.
