Seems from reading here getting USB sound cards to resume can be an issue as well. If I don't get a motherboard with better audio I'm going to try dual-core Atom first, I figured the Fuzzy+T7300 route would provide at least double the performance for about double the money of a dual-core Atom board plus USB sound card.

I will definitely let you know how my USB sound card works out. I'll be ****ed if it doesn't come back from resume. You always have the option of using a PCI sound card. The gigabyte board has everything but the kitchen sink. It has a CF card slot, mini pci express, mini pci, pci, DVI and VGA outputs, SPDIF Coaxial output. The only thing it doesn't have is 6 channel audio which was kind of a problem for me but i might just use a DAC.

Yeah, unfortunately I don't have need for any of the mini pcie/pci/DVI/SPDIF, etc. On the Fuzzy I was considering trying the CF slot, but most likely was just going to wait and get a real SSD before winter as I am not willing to do the EWF/HORM thing.

What I really have to do is get my development system into my car and see if running without the ability to fade front-to-rear is a big problem. If it works out OK I'll probably start with the Atom board and go from there.

Which CF skin was that in your latest images?

WARNING!!!! to all about gigabyte ga-6kieh-rh!!! If you buy this motherboard and want to install XP it will not work unless u load the raid drivers. U will not be able to access ur harddrives. The solution is to use nlite to add the drivers to an install CD. Just thought i'd let everyone know.

Is that due to a BIOS setting? What is the SATA mode set to? That would be a bizarre requirement on a board that will almost never be used for any RAID.

Yea i thought it was strange. I'm not use to seeing a blue screen without an os lol. It has nothing to do with the bios settings unfortunately. I tried every setting before finally making an nlite cd. Of course the first nlite CD booted up fine but everything in the OS was messed cause i never make these CDs right. Anyway hopefully i'll be fully up and running tonight.

GREAT NEWS!!! I'm not sure who is following my thread anymore but i'm excited and i'm gonna tell someone lol...

The gigabyte motherboard with a slightly modified nlite XP (similar to what i had on the msi fuzzy board) I've cut my boot times down to next to nothing. Here is the rundown

Cold Start
Music Playback -> Shutdown 12s
Off -> Music Playback 51s (-5secs for psu startup controller)

Standby (S1)
Music playback -> Standby(S1) 8s
Standby(S1) -> Music Playback 11s

Hibernate
Music Playback -> Hibernate 32s
Hibernate -> Music Playback 24s

I don't even want to show what the msi board was doing. Lets just say hibernate resume was like 1min and cold start was 1 min

So it turns out that on the gigabyte motherboard. S1 is actually S3 mode and S3 mode is actually S1 mode. That is really strange. I guess someone over there needs to be fired. lol

I just purchased a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 External USB sound card and it seems to work just fine. I haven't had any issues besides amp popping but i think i'm going to try and wire up a relay and hope that will correct the issue.

For everyone who follows my little thread here. I've been having quite a few thermal issues even just sitting here in my office so i tried to figure out a way around so i took my case and cut two holes in the back to add two exhaust fans. I'm not sure if this is going to have some sort of canceling out effect with the fan i already have inside the case but what the hell it was my last shot at decent thermal performance. I'll try and upload a pic sometime soon and keep everyone posted on whether this works or not.
