there are some people that have hacked the internal software and modified it to work(mostly in pioneers), but most of the decks are not able to do this.
hacking a HU is no where near easy, and there is a good posiblity that it could get turned into a expensive paper weight. and even if you do manage to hack it enough to run computer programs, it will still not be very fast, or be able to do everything a computer will do.
if you are interested in starting a car computer, it would be better to sell it. there are many limitations in using a alpine or any other name brand product that could cause you to scrap the whole idea later anways---screen resolution might not support vga type signals, and keeping all of the decks features might be impossible--you could loose the display, or audio drivers, because they are not supported by the new os, and no one has made any...
