Audio basics?

I'm new =x. I have been looking for Audio basics information all over these forums. Can someone post a link if I have overlooked it? If the link isn't there, can someone start a layout?

I am planning on running audio without a head unit.

there are some basic tips, but every audio system is different, so only use anyhting you find as a rough guideline of what you will need.
