Im a noob btw..

I just bought this car that had some 10" sub in it that was blown already, so i bought a new one to fit in the old box: http://www.ground-zero-audio.com/13_...nual_gzrwx.pdf
(says "Power W / RMS = 400)
(it also says "Dual coil 2x2 0Ω, do i need to worry about that?)

And the sub AMP is a DynaBel BF4501 -1X1200 Watt RMS.
It says its 1x450 watt RMS at 4Ω, its also stabile at 1Ω = 1200Watt.
Do this mean that my amp can handle 3x the power thats max on my sub?
(ill link it, its in norwegian, but you should be able to get the numbers atleast "utgangseffekt" = "load (?)"

Anyways, dose this mean that i have to use this wiring setup? (option 2)http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftec...1&woofer_imp=3

No need to worry. Dual voice coil configurations give you more wiring options and flexibility over single voice coil subs.


Yes, your amp is capable of putting out a lot more power than the sub is capable of handling.

Hey, thanks alot for the help i`ve got everything rigged up now, so its just tuning it thats left, and there are a few things that i dont get there aswell...

My system is running on 2 amps, one for the sub and one for the speakers.
I think i know how to adjust both the gain and the bass boost on the sub amp ( assuming its done by lisening for distortion while turning you gain when having volume at 2/3)(?)

Whats left is 3 knobs; Phase 0 - 180
LPF 35 - 300 Hz
Subsonic 10 - 60 Hz
What are these for and how do i tune them?


As for my speaker amp, there are some 3 point switch that can be se to Hpf, Lpf and full.
I assume these should be set to Hpf (H=high?)
Why is there no gain setting on this amp and how do i tune the sensitivity knob?

The phase control is mostly used when you're using full-range speakers in addition to your sub. It lets the sub blend in with the bass from the other speakers better. Since your other speakers aren't full range, but instead will be high-passed, no need to worry about the phase. Just leave it at 0.

The low-pass filter (LPF) on the sub amp adjusts what frequencies will be sent to the sub. If you set it to, for example, 80 Hz, then everything below 80Hz will be sent to the sub. 80Hz is a good starting point, by the way.

The subsonic filter filters out the really low notes, which may cause some distortion on some subs. Adjust it to what sounds best for your sub.

For the main speakers, set the high-pass filter (HPF) to around the same setting that you have the LPF set on the sub. You may need to set it a little higher to get best sound. I find that if they are set the same, I up with a little bit of muddiness in the sound at around those frequencies where they overlap. Adjust it to what sounds best for your setup.

You say your main speaker amp has a sensitivity knob but no gain knob. They are the same thing, just different names.

Also, you may find it easier to adjust the gain on the main speakers first, using the method you described. Then adjust the gain on the sub so that the level of bass sounds good in relation to the rest of the sound.
