how about u all just shut the ***** up. i was just playing with ideas, and it has become obvios that the monitors will not fit, but i think the case will. i now plan on mounting a 7-10 inch monitor in the center of the dash right above the tower. if you have any comments on this idea plz say, but dont come in here bashing my ideas, this mp3 car comunity is small enough as it is, you dont need to scare another persone away from it. also if i can get this done i could get some people to put carputers in their car, i dont think ANYONE knows about this kind of mod.

here is my carputer plan for my car---
my computer will be mounter in the sash, with the monitor ontop of it. in from of the driver will be mounted the full line of ac autotechnic s7 gauges http://www.acautotechnic.com/achome.html with the 4 in 1 tachomter. the speedometer will be a hud unit http://www.defi-shop.com/product/vsd/vsd2/vsd2_top.htm colored red. from the computer i will be able to control all exterior neon lights, all interior neon lights, all regular interior lights, nos remote bottle opener, hideaway licence plate, and a hidden compartment which will house afc, turbo timer, boost control units (which will open powered by actuators). sound will be sent from the computer to the alpine PXA-700 and then to amps, then speakers. I will also have a radio card. Connected to the computer will also be a GPS reciever and OBD-II, pluss my PS2. the shift know will be the Varad RacerBoy shift knob http://www.sounddomain.com/sku/VARRB101 which will be painted black. three of the bottons will control various functions in winamp, wile the fourth button will control wings west spoiler with custom motorization so i can have max downforce one turns, and min downforce on straits. if u see anyproblems in my plans, plz tell me, but plz do not bash.

jettamasta - How about you stop spamming? Three posts where one EDITED post would have worked. Easy. Also, your LCD panel dash idea was bull****, glad you figured it out
Your new (And a lot better) dash idea sounds like it might work. Yes, sounds ricey, so I don't like it, but it prob would work If I were you, I would stick the computer in the trunk and just wire it up, that is not that hard consitering you are doing so much stuff You can use Firewire or USB2 with an IDE controler to have a CD/DVD/Other-IDE-Device anywhere with in USB2/Firewire cord range, I have some Firewire cable (For my video cameras) that are 8 meters long. The enclosure will determinum if it will run slower, and it might, but it might not. Floppy is out, but how often do you really need it? You can have it in your trunk or something
I rather like that shifter knob and have been looking at getting one. I would be using it for Winamp mostly as well, perhaps Copilot zoom in/out as well, not sure. I don't think you really need a wing on any car, unless you can show me the physic's formulas that prove it, I won't beleive it Moveing the wing up/down will def. give you more down/up (?) force, but again I'm really not thinking you need it. Cool idea tho, prob un-nessary.
Good luck with the project!

its called u-s-b. works quite well and is plenty fast. if you buy the usb packaged drives, they should run 100-175. otherwise you can buy the adapter for them for ~60 that will turn any ide drive into usb 2.0
i have my cdrd/dvdrom under my seat attached via a 10ft usb cord

thanx for being a bit more nice this time. My mind isnt made up on whether to put the carputer in the trunk or in the dash. i think the dash would lookk freakin cool. i am going to stealth all the drives so everythink is very smooth and neat. tell me if you thik this is still ricy(which i am trying to avoid. have you even seend a carputer in the dash? post pics if u have). but then again i dont even own the car yet and am just working my *** off in order to make the money for it. (raise 16000$ by next winter to put in car, getting a car loan to pay for the car) The trunk option will also be cool because i can mould a sweet fiberglass housing for it.

Buddy, plan an education. Judging by your posts, you really need a better one.
