This forum is a mistake . . .

Sorry to sound so harsh folks, but . . . the sole purpose of the entire forum, and all its catagories is to help people out who are starting out. Look at the subjects that are coming up in here. They all belong someplace else. We're going to end up with this one forum with all the "new" questions bunched together, making it harder to focus on where veterans can help most.

Lets nip this in the bud. Kill this forum and go back to the "standards". And just so there's no misunderstanding, I mean this all in the highest interest of being able to help folks out, rather than making forum navigation more complex. Am I alone in this . . . anybody else feel this way?

Thanks for listening all, Dex

I am not sure if this is helping or hurting yet. I say give it another week or so.

I Agree. There are already MP3 Gatherings and General Discussion. That's as much as is needed I think. I think the front of the website should change to explain the website and its mission.

Then have the forums new discussions on the side or below.

I think many people are missing the point of this subforum, but I don't think it needs to go away.

Well, from an "experienced" mp3car.com member (been coming here for a few years now)....I haven't even gone into the Newbie section yet, and don't think I probably would. I have helped people on here many times, but I don't think I would go into the Newbie section to search out people to help.

Just my 2 cents...

I guess, part of my concern is that, if you look at this forums subtitle:

Quote:
New to the hobby? This is the place for you.

I would hate to think that someone new to this forum might get
the impression that they aren't welcome to post in the other
catagories. Its probably not a serious problem, just seems like an unnecessary
division of resources.

I think the subtitle lets them know this is a safe place to start on their quest to being an accomplished mp3car er.. person. It's like in a video game, where you fight monsters that are hardly strong enough to do damage. There's always some stronger characters around to help you, and some stronger characters that don't care. It's the same in all aspects of life, there are those who will help, and those who won't, but most of the time in life we aren't granted a safe zone. Fortunately we are able to provide a defined area where no question is going to be flamed. If it is, it will be dealt with by the moderators.

There are sever people on the forum who do a nice job helping people out, but there are others who are elitists, the elitists can ignore the Newbie section, and that's fine. At least now we have an area where the senior members can contribute to the Newbies with out the Newbies worrying about getting attacked.

As far as people not commenting in these threads, sure some people will avoid them, but many of us use the "view new threads button" (which is currently the second arrow from the left?) and read either all the threads or whatever looks interesting.

If you don't feel like reading Newbie threads, nobody is going to take offense to it. Just go about your business. If you want to post here, please do and be kind to your junior members.
