Ok, having read these forums, including the newbie secion, I think I've come up with a plan for my music machine.

I have managed to acquire a PII 400MHz, 256Mb RAM, 6G hard drive laptop at a really good price. I've installed XP Lite and stripped it down to bare bones and don't have any other software on it. I plan on loading and using WinAmp. I also have the X10 UR81A Universal Remote with the MR26A Firecracker reciever. I plan on downloading the Girder software to get the remote and reciever to work with WinAmp as the Boom2000 software that came with the remote stinks. I plan on using a USB FM transmitter to broadcast my music to stock head unit.

Here's the hang-up: Power.

From what I've read, the Opus would be the ideal way to go. As you can probably tell, I'm going with the 'easy set-up' method of building this, therefore I had originally planned on using an inverter. However this doesnt leave me any option for restarting the computer after powering down, except manually.

Here's the quesiton: How do I hook the Opus to my laptop? Do I have to crack the shell open and start messing with wires/solder? Any help you guys can provide would be greatly appreciated.
