Trying to understand computer on/off switching

As my first offical nOOb question....

Can someone explain how I can turn on and off a carputer if it's in my trunk?

Real easy. Extend the wires from the motherboard to the power switch that your current case has. You will either need to use that switch (mounted wherever you want it, or purchase a new momentary switch to use, and leave your original switch in the computer case with noi wires to it. I used the switch from an old case, cut it out with a dremel and epoxied it into a plate in my dash. Works great. You can also extend the LED's if you want, so you can see power on and hard drive working. You can see my plate on my website under "Version 1".

It used to be on the products page, but I can't find it there any more. I got one from him awhile ago and it works perfectly. It turns on the cpu with the ignition and off a few moments after you shut off the car.

Also, I'm pretty sure you're not going to a get a standard answer so you might as well start searching the forums. I'm sure your answer lies in here somewhere already.

Hmmm... Okay so it's as easy as splicing wires and running them from back to front. Or if you want to do it a little more pro, get some logic circuts in place to handle it for you.

And I will do some searching, but you know how it is. When you know nothing at all what do you search for?
